- Martinez prepares for an energetic show
Martinez is a busy fellow—-running his own label (Camobear Records), a nationwide tour with Pigeon John in October and recording albums with both of his other bands, Chicharones and Pissed off Wild—-and like many busy fellows, he chooses to twitter (tweet?). His attitude about it is refreshing. “You should probably ride this fad out. It’s pretty wank,” says Martinez. “Mostly I make sarcastic comments about America’s health care system (Martinez lives in Portland, Oregon) and my own battles with lactose intolerance and cheese addiction.”
Instead of your own incessant tweeting about how late the bus is or whatever, you should probably spend your time waiting patiently by the internet for the release of Martinez’s new video for “Underground Pop” (off 2008’s The World Famous Sex Buffet). “The video is a play on Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. We rented a 1970s Cadillac Eldorado drop top and hit the strip. I found ether, which is not easy to find,” says Martinez. Particularly interesting will be “the bathtub scene with Moka Only wearing bunny ears and me with a haircut that looks like a 40 year old bald man’s. It’s the money shot.”
