I’m sick of reading assinine posts about how horrible life is in Halifax, N.S. No doubt, you have problems with this place and think every other city is somehow superior. I’m not questioning your beliefs, just your sanity. Go. Leave. Adios. There is no reason you HAVE to live here. Don’t ever settle for a city that disgusts you so. If the grass is greener on the other side, you should at the very least go to the other side to check it out! Go to your cities with no taxes, no rain, free transit, $100 000 jobs for 3 days a work a year, etc. Leave this place to the people who live here because they love it. In getting rid of the negative people who don’t like it, it will only become that much more wonderful for the rest of us! I love this place for a thousand reasons (oceans, thousands of lakes, accessibilty to wilderness, friendliest people I’ve ever encoutnered) and will never return to my prairie home, but for anyone who longs for a prairie home or an Ontarian one, go. Please. We don’t need you here!!

  1. Don’t shit your waders, Cecil – the mean Upper Canadians are more afraid of you than you are of them.

  2. Hating Halifax has nothing to do with hating Nova Scotia. I have lived in Quebec, Newfoundland, NewBrunswick, in towns & cities I don’t even know how anyone can compare the cities anywhere to the countryside(s)
I grew up in Halifax/Dartmouth two shorelines of the same harbour covered in a thin layer of excrement, moved away for a bit moved back , moved again came back…etc.
I left halifax for the countryside (out past Elmsdale ) over seven years ago.
I love it out here. I wouldn’t move back to that over priced, over taxed, STINKY, hell hole for love or money.
Still love to go down to Chester race week, to the Annapolis Valley, up to shop in Truro, & love summer time trips to Cape Breton. Still enjoy Nova Scotia from one end to the other, & when the occassional work commitment comes up, I go to Halifax & it never ever disappoints me . Because its a bigger shit hole now then it was 7 years ago & when I drive toward home I get happier as the criminal playground, with too many ticket Nazi’s & criminals being released on Bail no matter how serious the “alleged crime” disappears in my review mirror 🙂

If Nova Scotia had an anus…Halifax would be its location !

  3. More said, “If Nova Scotia had an anus…Halifax would be its location”

hey man, that’s not a nice thing to say… why you gotta be so hard on anuses?

at least an anus is good for something

  4. techcafe, you are correct… the anus performs a very important function. I just don’t want to live in it !

  5. Smellifax is aight – I think it’s a good size, there seems to be a lot going on (in the summer, at least) and…yeah. However, I’m going to have to go with what More said and say that I much prefer the countryside, but I was born there, so I’m biased. One bad thing I will say about the boonies is that there are too many spiders.

  6. “too many spiders??”

no way, mole rate… spiders are our friends! they help rid us of pesky flys and mosquitos. and i think it’s cool how spiders liquify the internal organs of their prey, then suck out all the juicy goodness

  7. You can’t walk through the goddamn woods without like ten of them parachuting down on your head.

  8. ok, you got a point, rat… getting entangled in a sticky spider web (along with a face-full of fly & insect carcasses) does suck.

  9. Ha Ha…I was once walking to my car after a picnic and walked right into a web…hair and face full of web!!! I shrieked like a little girl!!! If the countryside is full of mean spiders that like to spin their web at face level I’ll stay right here thank you very much!

  10. I love Halifax but christ, I’ve wanted to live somewhere warm since I was 5. As soon as I finish school I’m headed to Perth, AU.

  11. I’ve lived in halifax all my life, in every area, and I love it here. I’ve never thought about moving. BUT I’ve never left Atlantic Canada either so I don’t know what I’m missing lol. My biggest complaint right now is the lack of places to take my dog in my area, which were getting fixed so…

I think there’s bad everywhere you go.

  12. I like living here!
although i would like to travel but i don’t see myself moving any where fancy any time soon.
I find the people here are nice yes there are bad seeds but they are everywhere.

  13. virgomom said, “BUT I’ve never left Atlantic Canada either so *I don’t know what I’m missing*”

exactly! and you can be grateful for that, let me assure you.

  14. I’m going to Lebanon or Cyprus after graduating again and enjoy a lifetime of donairs and souvlaki.

  15. Amen to the OP..for fuck sake if you hate it here so much. just move the fuck away! I mean really people,. life is too fucking short!

  16. I believe people in general have too big a habit of finding the bad in everything – i.e food, politicians, people, jobs. If everyone concentrated on the good we wouldn’t be as selfish people as a whole.

  17. I don’t think it’s people in general, but just certain people. There’s good and bad sides to everything and some people just like to notice the bad (they are usually the selfish one’s too). Others can ignore the assholes and injustices in life and focus on the more positive things, which, like you say Dino, usually involves being a little less selfish and a little more tolerant.

  18. Hey…I am shocked there was not even a single peep out of the Kaytard…wait, let me confirm the posts again.

Time passes as DER? checks and checks again…

Nope, nothing, nadda, zilch…will wonders never cease!

I would have thought she would be ladling out some of her Nicolas Cage Movie Wisdom in here and when I say ladling I mean force feeding with a funnel and a septic pump…
