What is with the recent bitches about Halifax being so boring? How much excitement do you expect from a small city? I think Halifax is a pretty vibrant city for its size. Anyone who says that their city/hometown is boring is just trying to make up excuses for their own lame, boring, unexciting personality. If you don’t like it move out, but you’ll probably find it just as boring in the next city unless you change your attitude. —Go Get Swarmed… I Hear That’s Pretty Entertaining

  1. I know the post to which you are referring to and I basically said the same thing. But I don’t think it was written by anyone that originally comes from Halifax (hometown) but rather a CFA student. Whatever. It is what you make of it. Get involved. Take an interest. Keep an open mind and don’t be afraid to try something different and there is TONS of stuff to do here.

  2. I certainly wasn’t bored this weekend 🙂 and what a weekend it’s been.
Biking, 2 day party, dancing, swimming in the ocean, and tonight’s Jeff Beck(yep he’s still alive).

Maybe these ‘bored’ people should take up a few of the invitations they get.

  3. Donk… it’s cold even on the hottest of days.
    🙂
I imagine it would have been frigid this past weekend.
    brrrrrrrrr

  4. I swam at martinique on Monday – it was amazing. There is so much to do in Halifax and surrounding areas. Thinking outside the box and trying things you have never tried before always help. I tried rowing this year – hated it – but still tried it. Nocture is just around the corner, and winter will bring lots of fun too.

  5. i also hear that running head first, into a moving tractor trailor is fun too. by the way, if you want me, i’ll be out shooting some fools this weekend, got get some target practice, before the season starts. anyone know where some scumbags hang out. they are all in hiding in my area.

  6. Or maybe Halifax just doesn’t float their boat. Seems like a petty thing to bitch about. If you’re happy here, great. Why would you think that everybody likes the same things as you?

  7. There’s plenty to do in Halifax. Driving through puddles that have pedestrians next to them is fun. So is watching fat push even more food down their throats.

  8. deer antlers make excellent chews for dogs, cut them up, freeze em and your good to go. you don’t need to smoke or cook them and they don’t splinter. the freezing kills any parasites. i have never tried them and the hound hasn’t either^^this info is from very reliable sources.
back to the bitch…we moved so much when i was a kid, some places i loathed others i liked. we’d never lived here, and i like it but i can see why the boy left

  9. OP, I think it is only fair that we criticize you as much as the person that felt Halifax was boring, so here goes….

you are ugly and your mom dresses you funny.

  10. I don’t even particularly like living here, but I think the thing that bugs me about these “buhh, halifax suuucks” bitches is that no one is forcing them to live here. If they need tons of fun and excitement constantly all the time, move to Montreal or some other large city. Ya know?

“If they need tons of fun and excitement constantly all the time, move to Montreal or come other large city. Ya know?”

Yes Molerat, as a matter of fact I do. But contrary to your views, most Montrealers do not “need tons of excitement constantly all the time” but rather tend to live quietly in their own “burroughs” within the Montreal Urban Community. Ask any Montrealer where he’s from and he will answer, depending on the language, La Patrie, Ahuntsic, Cartierville, St. Léonard, Pointe-aux-Trembles and so on, each of which has a population roughly the size of Halifax which, its critics nothwistanding, is the ideal size for an city (if it can stop its current urban sprawl).

    A pleasure as always.

    Cheerio!

  12. I didn’t say everyone who lives in Montreal is like that. I said if complainers want to live somewhere that has more options for stuff to do, maybe they should go to a place like that. Thanks for the fascinating information though.

  13. What Tommy said.

“Anyone who says that their city/hometown is boring is just trying to make up excuses for their own lame, boring, unexciting personality”
You’re right, OP. Whoever openly expresses their preference of town X over town Y has no personality and will be forever alone.

“If you don’t like it move out” – Not everyone has that option: sometimes you have to bite the bullet and stay wherever your job takes you for a couple years before the next promotion/re-assignment/transfer opportunity presents itself.

By the way, I really like your closing statement, OP. Now, wouldn’t it be ironic if YOU got swarmed (although it’s unlikely: it’s a well-known fact criminals don’t go after people who like their hometown).

I didn’t write any of the “Halifax sucks” trolling bitches…but I must say some replies (such as yours, OP) are just as annoying.

: Mole Rat (Oct. 13, 12:38AM) – Sorry for the mistake about my reply to the “fun and excitement” comment. I thought you were recommending Montréal in relation to Halifax on the basis of that fun and excitement. I also made another error in saying that each of the various boroughs of the MUC had roughly the same population as Halifax when, in fact, it is in most cases less. But it is true that if you ask any other resident where he lives, he will always reply using the burrough name. This includes those burroughs – Beaconsfield, Westmount, Town of Mount Royal, Dorval, for example – that did not vote in favour of joining in the MUC. Myself, I am a “Lachinois” (pronounced “Lachinwa”), a native of Lachine – no, not “China” as it translates into English – but the name of my burrough.

But the question as to what the ideal size of a city might be is interesting. I don’t think that there is any “objective” ideal size but I know that I couldn’t live in a village or even a small town. On the other hand, Montréal is too large, both in population and area. For me an ideal city is a “walking city,” one where you can comfortable walk from home to downtown. Halifax, excluding its suburban sprawl, is like that.

So, Mole Rat, why not take a stroll down Spring Garden from Robie to South Park right now? You could pass through the Gardens if you like.

    A pleasure as always.

    Cheerio!

  15. Those bitches really piss me off. Yes. Halifax IS sort of boring. It used to be awesome but it’s changed and now it’s flatter than it used to be. Fine! I don’t have to live here. I choose to live here.

I would feel like a goddamned tool bitching about something that i could change by hopping on a bus.

Illegal hate speech. Ban the user. Delete the post. If you do not then you are as guilty as he.
