Anyone who gets behind a while WHILE intoxed is a scumbag….lower infact than a scumbag….and if you do it and cause harm or kill someone….well you get a free pass to hell (hopefully). Live with the fact that your idiocy TOOK ANOTHER HUMAN LIFE!!!!!
—drunk-drivers deserve to go to hell

I second that!
As someone who lost two family members when some assbag drunk drove down the wrong side of the highway after getting piss drunk, I think they should be subject to some sort of torture before they’re on their way to hell.
They should be used as crash test dummies… That’ll give em a taste!
It appears that this moronic lady in Cole Harbour yesterday was in fact pissed drunk. You need to be put on a road and backed over lady..several times.
I’m still surprised they let women drive here. Saudi Arabia is the only country in the world that bans women from driving. Saudi Arabia has the least number of accidents per capita. Coincidence? I think not 🙂
They also have the highest rates of camel collisions per capita though.
Enough of the hate against drunk drivers! I know that not criticising drunk drivers is equivalent to denying the Holocaust for some people, but lots of idiots on the road cause accidents, not just drunk drivers. While I haven’t myself, I have been in a car many times with a drunk and/or high driver and every time everything turned out perfectly fine. Meanwhile, I have been in an accident with my grandmother driving, completely sober, just not knowing what the hell she was doing. You’ll say I’m taking a stupid risk riding with drunk/high drivers, but people (myself included) take stupid risks everyday, like driving while tired or angry (both dangerous but not against the law), jaywalking, and even walking up and down a flight of stairs with too many groceries or laundry. I’m not saying drinking and driving is right, I’m just saying that there seems to be an unwarranted amount of hatred spewed towards people who may have simply been having a good time having a few drinks and may still need to drive.
Sympathy to all those who have lost loved ones in car crashes though, no matter what the cause.
“people who may have simply been having a good time having a few drinks and may still need to drive.”
One of the most assinine comments ever made on LTWWB.
Wow, that was the most idiotic statement I have ever heard… It’s one thing for you and the idiots your with risking your own lives (world would be a better place), but its a whole other issue that your risking the lives of everyone else on the road. Go get an education and stfu moron… And btw your examples of stupid risks are pathetic comparisons…
Agreed BRoc.
I have a lot of relatives/acquaintances living in a rural area of NS and drunk driving is like their “dirty little secret.” People think nothing of leaving a party drunk and driving home to their house 15 minutes walk away. I’d say I hoped one of them would get in a horrible car accident and then maybe they’d get some sense into them, but probably nothing would change.
Drunk driving is 100% preventable, and therefore so are the deaths resulting from it. People have every right to be pissed off and hateful towards drunk drivers. The worst part about accidents with drunk drivers is that it’s rarely the drunk that gets killed.
I enjoyed 60 minutes this past Sunday; there was a Prosecutor who didn’t charge drunks who killed as driving DUI she charged them with reckless endangerment and they got 25 years – of course this was in the States, but hopefully our sad sacks will get the nuts to try the same.
Someone should Dexter that bitch.
There is NO fucking excuse for drinking then getting behind the wheel of a car. For the selfish old soused cunt who killed an innocent man in Cole Harbour – I hope she has vivid nightmares for the rest of her useless life.
Luckily the guy who killed my family members burnt to death when his car blew up. He was still alive when it happened and was screaming to get him out of the car.
Too bad something like THIS didn’t happen to that twat in Cole Harbour.
Gotta love everyone here out for blood even with no real justification for it. What about someone who drives without enough sleep, which is also avoidable and just as dangerous, and kills someone on the roads, should they burn to death in their car too?
Once again, not saying it’s right, but plenty of people drink / do drugs and drive and are completely fine. Plenty of people also go about their lives taking very few risks and living very cautiously, but still die anyway!
That man in Cole harbour was my friend who passed away a kinder more giving man you could not find and his vibrant life of giving endlessly of his time to others is ended because some stupid drink bitch got behind the wheel? She didn’t rcen stop after she sent a baby to the hospital in her first accident to qpmzwonx you should be fucking ashamed to have said what you did and to the 54 year old lady who drove drunk what the fuck were you thinking you stupid bag of shit I hope you burn
I can’t blame you for feeling that way, unrefined – this stupid fucking cow deserves a lifetime of imprisonment for what she did. I am appalled that anyone her age would be so goddamn careless and stupid. I hope this haunts her FOREVER.
I completely agree with drunk drivers being horrible and all that. BUT I feel the need to point out that there probably isn’t a hell so therefore we should probably just make their lives horrible by sending them to jail. That or bring back the death penalty.
Okay, I generally am an infrequent poster. But really?!
“Gotta love everyone here out for blood even with no real justification for it.”
No justification? Other people die because of the sheer stupidity of one person. No arguement that people shouldn’t drive while tired, but it doesn’t counter-argue the fact that drunk driving is not only illegal, but beyond acceptable.
“Once again, not saying it’s right, but plenty of people drink / do drugs and drive and are completely fine.”
Yes, and many people also do drugs and overdose. Luckily, this generally only affects them, when you drive drunk, you’re potentially killing other people.
Yes, people take risks everyday, but generally they are risks to their OWN life – self chosen. When a drunk driver gets behind the wheel, they are taking any choices away from the people they KILL.
Basil, that’s a great thing to do. You’re right, though…we can only hope that our ‘leaders’ will start thinking outside the box when it comes to the punishment for this kind of senseless crime.
Unrefined, my sympathies…he was my grade 11 French teacher at DHS.
qpmzwonx, I have heard some fucked up shit, but yours takes the cake. Makes me think you’re a ‘casual’ drunk driver. An uncle of mine, who formerly worked with the city, habitually drove drunk. I refused to drive with him more than once, and this would make him angry. When I finally got the balls to tell him he was a twat to drink & drive, he LAUGHED at me and said he was fine and he could drive the city in his sleep. THAT made it better. Fortunately, he never caused harm and he has since stopped, but I think of everyone who does this with that same mentality…it’s scary.
That stupid drunk needs to be tried for reckless endangerment. As was said, she caused not 1 but 2 accidents, and only stopped in the second one, because she ended up hurt. But, she wasn’t the one who died, which, as Miles stated, is all too common. It’s always an innocent.
qpmzwonx: Sure you can drive drunk and not kill anyone. I can play Russian roulette and not kill myself every time too. What’s your point? Drunk driving increases your chances of harming yourself, others or property. IT’s totally preventable with an ounce of responsibility. So is driving while tired. People shouldn’t do it. Responsible people don’t and professional drivers (truckers) know to take rest breaks.
Nobody deserves to burn to death in a car, but people get legitimately upset when some selfish asswipe like a drunk thinks it’s OK to get behind the wheel while impaired and risk the lives of everyone on the road. There is NO way to justify drunk driving or to minimize the irresponsibility of it.
This is such a horrible thing to happen. What a stupid bitch, I hope she gets everything she deserves. There is NO excuse.
to pxwmonx or whatever the fuck your name is Go FUCK YOURSELF idiot. I mean really. Are you really as fucking STUPID as you come across or do you purposely come across that way in an effort to get a response?!? Surely to God there cannot be a soul on earth as fucking stupid as you that is not locked up or in a mental institution! First of all (IF you can read) there is NEVER a “Need to have a few drinks and drive”. Please give me an example of when a person would “Need” to drive after getting drunk? And tehn you try to use an analogy of a person who drives without enough sleep as being comparable to a person getting drunk and getting behind the wheel of a car?!?! Congratulations for the many times you have been in a car with a drunk driver and managed to get home “just fine”. Anytime you want to play Russian Roulette again just let me know and I will bring the gun. Idiot.
I see a lot of anger here but very, very little logic. There’s no point in me continuing to argue here – to do so would just add more fuel to the fire. I’m just a guy voicing my opinions based on my thoughts and experiences, and sorry if it’s not what’s commonly acceptable. First, I’d just like to say all the people now calling for MY blood to perhaps re-read my two posts here and use more logic, less emotion. Finally, I’d like to reiterate that I have not ever personally drunk alcohol / done drugs and driven myself.
Good night.
Here’s the logic, qpmzwonx, drinking and driving is ILLEGAL and severely punishable by the law. It is a conscious decision to break the law, and also put yourself, and more importantly, other innocent people at great risk. The law isn’t new, and is a very popular law. By diminishing the responsibility of those who drink and drive, you are causing great distress to those of us who have lost loved ones to drunk drivers. It is not always appropriate to use your twisted logic and in this topic there can be no room for it. Please take your opinions elsewhere, because I can ensure you, that we fellow bitchers at LTWWB can be very unforgiving and do not take kindly to cold and thoughtless asshats such as yourself
driving while drunk is not just stupid, it’s unconscionable. imo, there should be mandatory minimum sentences, because driving under the influence of alcohol is a very serious crime (a quick examination of fatal accident statistics prove that, each and every day).
it’s one thing to drive drunk and kill yourself, but quite often, there are also other innocent victims that are maimed/killed by drunk drivers. there’s just no valid excuse to get behind the wheel of a car when you’re drunk. it’s simply too dangerous.
i say lock-up drunk drivers for at least six months for the first DUI offense. a second drunk driving offense earns the drunkard an automatic 1 year jail sentence. a third time, at least 5 years in prison and lifetime suspension of driving PRIVILEGES. that should send a very clear message to would be drunken idiots that driving while drunk won’t be tolerated under any circumstances.
I blame the cab companies.
You can never get a damn cab when you get out of the bar at night !
when your downttown & have to go out to Colby village or Tantallon, the buses aren’t running & the damn cabbies are all parked in front of a couple of Halifax watering holes , we in Dartmouth have no F’in cabs !
😉
@More – while you make valid points about the scarcity of cabs and our inadequate public transit system (particularly at night) – it is still your responsibility to NOT get shit-faced drunk if you’re planning to drive home. in fact, the car should never leave your driveway if you’re planning to go out drinking.
it doesn’t take much alcohol in a person’s system to seriously impair one’s judgement and their ability to operate a vehicle SAFELY. driving while drunk is like playing russian roulette – you might get lucky the first few times, but eventually… someone’s gonna die.
i believe the alcohol industry ought to bear more responsibility in preventing drunk driving. sponsoring a few ineffectual ads on tv is just paying lip service to the problem. the alcohol industry has more than enough power, influence and money (too much actually), so they could easily subsidize some late night shuttle/taxi service… and still reap massive/obscene profits.
