What is wrong with people? I just had my apartment smashed up, and my dog got stolen. Who steals someone’s dog? Honestly. How do you sleep at night? My dog is the world to me, and now he’s gone. Its disgusting to know that now even pets aren’t safe with all this crime in HRM going on.

  1. How pathetic. Hopefully you’ll get your dog back, I’m sure he was the worst thing to lose.

  2. OMG someone stole your dog?
WHAT AN ASS!!! there has been alot of muggings/robery’s lately how sad?

  3. That’s AWFUL, OP.

I really hope you get your dog back. I can’t imagine what kind of slime sucking scum breaks into someone’s apartment and steals their pet.

I hope they get hit by a bus.

  4. That’s insane! I hope you put up posters and contacted the SPCA and local vets. Its hard to keep a dog hidden, hopefully you’ll get him back!

  5. I’m really saddened to hear of the loss of your dog (hell I would even be pissed if I heard it was a cat…& I don’t like them) but just to make you feel better (or is it worse ?!?) I was in Halifax & Dartmouth today on business & I seen Halifax’s finest passing out tickets downtown (& is was an actual cop). As well as seeing a bicycle cop in downtown Dartmouth also writing vehicle tickets. So maybe they’re not stopping the thefts, shootings & murders…but they are filling the coffers of the HRM’s courts ! This is obviously their biggest priority, the making of MONEY. Crime, they might solve it, if there isn’t any parking violations going on, or they’re not on break !

  6. Any chance your dog just ran away/got loose after the robbery and maybe will come back on it’s own?

  7. Bastards! I would be worried as hell. What kind of dog was it? You need to get the word out there. Put up posters of your dog with his/her name. You never know.

  8. man, that’s just low down & dirty.

as if breaking into a person’s HOME, violating their personal space and stealing their shit isn’t bad enough… but ya gotta be an extra special douchebag to make off with someone’s pet – the one thing that might have given some comfort and solace to the victim, but the lousy fuckers had to steal the dog too. ugh, i’m with Pretty Kitty on this one… may the robber(s) get run over by a bus, repeatedly.

fuck, i’m heartbroken on your behalf, OP

  9. This is why my puppy has a microchip in her shoulder. You can change a lot of things about a dog, even the place where they live, but there will be no changing the information stored on that chip. Any vet can detect and read the data. It’s a good investment and I’m sure, today, the OP will agree. Good luck finding your dog. Give us a description.

  10. He’s a pitbul black lab mix, and we call him “Buddy”. The police have been notified, but I was told they can’t do anything. The chances that he just wandered off are slim as he doesnt like to be out of mine or my bf’s sight. He hasn’t come back yet, and heres a link to a pic of him;

    thanks for any help

  11. You should call the news see if they’ll do a story on it. Anything to get the word out. What area was it? Buddys beautiful btw. I really hope you get him back!

  12. my cat’s name is ‘buddy’

he was just a kitten i found him a couple winters ago, wandering the streets in the freezing cold and starving. i tried to find his rightful owner (went knocking on doors in the neighbourhood), but of course, that turned out to be a lost cause.

so a few months later, i took him to the vet (to be neutered), they asked me, what’s his name (i didn’t have one at the time, cuz i hadn’t planned on keeping a pet and didn’t want to become too attached to him either), so i just said, ah, well he’s my little buddy… and as fate would have it, he’s been with me ever since. he is pure black/white and very handsome, just like your Buddy.

i will definitely be keeping an eye open for your dog, Liz. he has distinctive markings, so should be easy to spot. and if we do see him with someone, what would you like us to do? personally, i’d be very tempted to whack the thieving sob over the head with a heavy object, then grab your dog and run, but that’s just me.

what area of town are you, btw? i think you should also listen to virgomom, try to get your story on the cbc 6 o’clock news even. i’ve seen them do stories like that before.

i hope your Buddy comes home soon.

  13. I live down off of Spring Garden Road. Im currently in Montreal until Thursday for work, so this makes the whoe situation that much more frustrating. Ive been thinking of contacting the news. In all honesty, I just want my dog back safely.

  14. I have a dog and frequent the dog parks. Ill definitely keep my eyes open and let other people know about it too. You should contact the SPCA with your info so if buddy is picked up they’ll contact you instead of putting him in as a stray.

I’ve always had dogs and they all have gotten out one time or another and with the help of neighbors, radio, news, signs etc we had happy endings. The best you can do is try your best to get word out and don’t give up!!

  15. There’s a certain Asian community in Halifax who have a culture of eating dog in the hot summer months. Just Google “Asia dog meat soup”.

  16. There’s a certain dickhead community in Halifax that has a culture of posting dumb shit on LTWWB in the hot summer months. Just Google “insensitive douchebags”.

  17. OP you should start a facebook group too – post the link to it on here and I’ll invite all my friends to join. We’ll have a Halifax network of eyes set up before you know it – this is just disgraceful. My place was broken into and I was heartbroken over my TV, would have absolutely DIED if my pets had been missing too.
