at first, i was counting down the days until the tragically hip announced when it’s new album “we are the same” was to come out, once they announced i counted down the days for it’s release as well as checked the website multiple times a day awaiting tour dates. finally they said they were coming to halifax, i could hardly contain my excitement. we all bought presale tickets, booked the weekend off, and planned an eventful weekend in halifax. now as the concert is approaching.. the day before.. they announce the hip will no longer be playing. people are already enroute to the concert heard what they hoped was a rumour but found to be true. i’m not saying anything against the hip, a family emergency is what it is. it’s just a major major let down.

  1. That’s the way the cookie bounces, OP – what can’t be helped must be endured. From what I hear, most people just made the best of it. Maybe you should have done so yourself.

  2. I like The Hip and all, but as a result of their no-show, I got to see Dinosaur Jr and Metric for free, when I was too broke to actually afford a ticket. No complaints here 🙂

  3. Ah well, I understand your disappointment OP but at least the concert was made free. Personally, I don’t think the Hip have been a great live act lately anyway. I saw them with the Stones in Moncton and Gord was screaming all the lyrics to the classics. Their shows seem to go with whatever weird mood he’s in.

  4. No worries. The fucking Hip seem to be here twice a year for fuck’s sake!! Wait a month, they will be back.

  5. i would have made more effort to go if the hip played but dude you got a refund and a free show!
