Note to the dickheads on Oxford St. that had the full scale deck party w/live band this past Friday. Halifax has a noise by-law that says you have to shut any excessive noise down by 11:00pm. I gave you til midnight before I called the cops because it was the weekend but you just kept getting louder. What are you guys thinking? You’re not out in the fucking middle of the woods or some shit. You’re in the centre of a neighbourhood with about 50 residences. Babies, the elderly and people like me who work every Saturday are trying to sleep. Have some respect. —Works Saturdays

Sometimes people need to let loose. As long as it isn’t every weekend, you need to let people live their lives. Celebration is part of a healthy life.
who the fuck is making those babies work on a saturday?!?!?
bastards….

Yeah, but so is getting adequate sleep, and if party goers are in my neigborhood making noise until the wee hours and I have to work in the AM, you better believe that the cops are getting a call from me. At least OP was lenient enough to give them an extra hour to wind things down. He could have called the police at 11:10 and be well within his rights to do so. I’m all for having a good time and celebrating. Absolutely. But if you are doing it in a residential area, be respectful of your neighbors. It’s called common courtesy. Maybe if the asshat party goers had came around a day or two before hand and warned neighbors that, “hey, we’re having a party on Friday night and we’re getting in a live band. It may be a little loud, are you ok with that?” then the OB may have had a different attitude, or maybe they could have come to an agreement about an appropriate time to cut the noise. Otherwise, it’s just plain rude.
Actually, I live near these assholes and yeah, they DO have loud ass parties almost every single Friday, Saturday. I and my neighbors put up with it most of the time but this past friday was too much.
Best part, when the cops showed up (how the fuck you have a party like that and not expect the cops to come is beyond me) there were many rather belligerent assholes angry at the cops. That was entertaining.
I have the same problem, not with live music. My neighbour plays shitty top-40/bar type music, usually between the hours of 8:00-10:30, about 3-4 times a week. It’s annoying as fuck, and the shitty thing is I can’t do anything about it because it’s always before 11pm.
Anyway, I think the idea that people need to “let loose” is bogus. If you need to let loose, go to the beach during the day, go camping, rent a camp/cottage out in the sticks, go to a pub/bar, etc. There are plenty of options – some affordable, all with booze – that don’t involve disrupting your neighbours.
FINALLY! Someone who *actually* did something instead of sitting on their arses complaining!
Kudos.
Also: the ‘letting loose’ thing is a crock of shit, but that’s generally what I’d expect from if not for you. Fucking dipshit.
Well thats, not so pretty, Kitty. When OP posted they didn’t say it happened every weekend. I am fresh off having a great backyard party a month ago that was a lot of fun. Some loud music, nothing crazy. No police were called, but I hope that they wouldn’t be considering I only do it a couple of times a year.
OP, hopefully they got charged. Have other neighbors call up the cops to also complain about those fuck tards.
Hahaha, charged with what; playing bad music?
you can give assholes a chance, but you can guarentee, that they will abuse it. get the guidelines straight, from the gitgo. noise to stop at 11 p.m., or cops will be called.add booze/dope, then you can forget respect on any level. shit happens like that here, you are searching for new digs come the next month. we don’t abide by that crap. gulag 52 has no problems that can’t be nipped in the bud.
There may be a rule about noise after 11pm.. but i don’t recall there being any rule about noise before 8am. Maybe that’s an avenue you might want to explore? 😉
It doesn’t matter if someone is making excessive noise before 11pm, you can still call the cops and they will still respond. You can call the cops on someone who is making a lot of noise at 3 in the afternoon. This happened to friends of mine who were having a band practice one day.
I just re-read and re-arranged my comment about eighteen times and it still doesn’t sound right to me. I am tired as fuck, and I think you can get the jist. Gist? Jyst? Bleh whatever.
