If you quit, how would you know control freak isn’t mentioning your name. From what you said I am going to assume that you were looking after her kids. What’s to say that the kid’s aren’t really upset that you are gone so she avoids bringing you up so the kids can forget about you faster?

This makes me think that she was a nanny, or babysitter. Assuming I’m correct, unless “control freak” was octomom I doubt there would be coworkers involved.

If Op was having regular visit’s with other family members and neighbors…that be kinda weird.
Sounds kinda like it was an assistant type job, which can occasionally turn into child care, and can make for some close knit relationship between boss and underling.
