First thank you metro transit driver on the #9 for not driving the speed limit so I miss my connecting bus, second thank you to the metro transit driver of the next connecting bus for getting me to work 20 minutes late instead of the 10 minutes that I knew I would be late because you had your friend on the bus with you chatting away, third thanks again co-worker for doing nothing as usual and leaving the work for me to do, and fourth thanks to the woman who reeked of sour fish in the washroom making me gag.

Tomorrow I’m probably going to get fired, trip over my computer cord onto my face, and barf my intestines out from quasi swine flu. But I’m not going to let that happen. You know why? Because I’m optimistic.

I can only assume based on the lack of details and what I know of the #9 that OP was trying to catch a bus at Scotia Square. Considering the amount of time given to get to the Square from the North End, many drivers (*holds hand up* guilty) will go up Barrington at a nice slow pace. The alternative is sitting at Scotia Square for 5+ minutes for the other passengers on the bus.
Relax, tomorrow is another day. Just in case though, plan a backup.
