I’m getting really sick of seeing only the cover and full page advertisements in colour while reading the coast, while the skimpy three by five inch art section submissions don’t get a drop of dye. show some respect to the artists. I’m sure when they submitted “high resolution” photos of their talent they didn’t want them to look like some washed out impoverished black and white bullshit. I get perfectly annoyed to hell whenever researching what art I could take part in, that’s fucked. the only thing that should be black and white in the arts section is the fact that the coast has gotten away with being cheap for far too fuckin’ long.
—leave the b/w phogoraphy to NSCAD students

I wouldn’t go that far, but it’s still not the same as actually playing an instrument.
Hey BRoc, who’s gonna create your album art, huh? Kodak? You don’t actually think because someone has an ear for music that they also have an eye for art or vice versa, do you? If so, your world must be very very very small.
While I agree about the B/W photo comment, the best part of this bitch is the tag.
LOL Dr. Fever, I didn’t read the tag that closely….priceless.
Phogoraphy…I’ve seen a lot of misspellings in my time, but that one truly takes the prize.
As for the art bullshit…this city is far too full of it. There might be a small section for art because *drumroll please*……
Nobody cares. A few people in Hali think that NSCAD is a big deal. It isn’t. Take a really close look at the majority of well-paying careers. They aren’t involving art.
Graphic artists and animators everywhere disagree. Care to, uh, *drum roll please*…. try again?
I see do not see them around Halifax driving Lexus’ (however the plural goes- I’m too lazy to look)
Hey, I have a creativity streak a mile long. I’m a tattoo artist, plus a writer, so obviously, I’m into the arts. Around here? Maybe some are successful.
Get my point? 🙂
Rawr, if you knew something about the NSCAD Students, it’s that they aren’t looking for high paying careers, but doing something that they enjoy to do.
Not everyone has to be “around Halifax driving Lexus'” to be successful.
Rawr only cares about money. Where’s the heart Rawr? Dear God WHERE?????
You artists, I have a lot of respect for you guys, but sometimes I just want to slap your faces around a bit. It seems like so many artists these days are pretentious, whining intellectuals with too much pride for their work and a fetish for ‘going green’. I’m an amateur photographer and I draw fairly well, so I appreciate art a LOT…however It should be presented in a less aggressive nature by certain individuals.
“the coast has gotten away with being cheap for far too fuckin’ long.”
Really? Jesus, OP, it’s a free fuckin’ paper. It’s not their job to perfectly re-create an artist’s work. They help you to research “what art” you “could take part in”.
Also, I didn’t realise it was possible to photograph talent. Neat.
perhaps you should be ‘creating’ something that is appropriate for the medium you’re advertising in…
theoretically, that would draw people in to see your other stuff, more suitable for viewing in person.
You are ‘creative’, no? They’re not going to change their layout or budget for you. Work WITH them… the coast is your friend.
I’ll go with Dino. Yes, I only care about money. I’m not the one whining about a FREE paper not giving much consideration to artists who think they are the shit when they are EXACTLY as Dino described- pretentious, whiny little fucks. Damn the reality!
I tattoo because I enjoy it. I don’t make anything off it, and won’t for quite a while. I don’t go getting my ass up because people won’t give me constant applause for my efforts….get me? Good 🙂
Oh great Rawr, this mean you’re scratching out of your basement?
I thought this was about the rise in number of pole dancers that think they’re artistic and innovative…..
Lick me, SwampDonkey. A friend has a shop, i do it there.
