I never knew how hard a postal “worker” has it. Getting up in the morning and placing things in boxes. It’s pretty much like a fast food restaurant. Only thing is, people still use restaurants. The whole world is financially screwed. Why should I feel bad for a service that does not serve. Just like Jack Layton or the CBC. —The Mailman

OP this question has been sorted out in another thread.
The upshot of our little chinwag over there was that the postal workers deserve our support and all those who oppose them are idiots.
Speaking for the group, let me just say that we don’t want to waste valuable internet argumentation resources on a question that has already been decided.
I know we can rely on your full cooperation in this matter.
Cordially Yours,
Comandante “The Unctuous Arse” Esposito
Let me be the first to second that.
Motion passed.
I’m with OP.
Make people on welfare deliver the mail. Oh wait, they’d probably steal it.
yeah, mail is deffinately going the way of the dinos. and soon, there won’t be any canada post to cry and whine, or the people that sometimes work there.
goddamn it, these people have it a hell of a lot better than most working stiffs. and they want more.
okay, let’s give them more vacay time, fire the fucking lot, and get rid of the head people too. they are really the fucking gougers here. the poor smucks that pound the pavement, are just paid assholes, doing what little they can, to look busy. the head honchos are the real ones that should be first to get the axes.
Not sure what CE is talking about, most of us think the union is a bunch of spoiled children and no one gives a fuck about them.
Actually Bro Tim I agree with CE.
A PROFITABLE Company shouldn’t be able to lock out its employee’s instead of negotiating a contract & then using the government that owns it to order the workers they locked out back to work.
If I worked there & was forced back to work…I’d be prompt & I guarantee you not only would I do nothing, I would do everything in my power to make things go backwards.
What should be done is the assholes who locked them out should be fired. THen the new managers should go in & bargan in good faith.
IF the postal workers actually wanted a strike, they would have done so as soon as they leagally could. The ‘revolving strike’ was causing very little disruption & was being done to keep the negotiators focused on ending the labor slow down.
Now that they are locked out hundreds of millions of dollars have supposedly been lost.
Money lost as a direct result of managements inability …TO MANAGE ! Not because of any action taken by the Union or its members.
People who think that Canada Post doesn’t matter are just pathetic losers who nobody every sends anything to. So their sadness about not getting mail turns into this idiocy for the rest if us…
I’m with you buddy. Except you don’t pay for Jack Layton (you pay for an official opposition, but that is not Jack Layton perse). You DO however pay through the nose for CBC is is welfare for entitled, snotty, and not entirely bright, rich. It’s like 1 CBC equals 10000 Jack laytons. If we really want to be smart, we’d save the 100s of millions we spend on supporting the otherwise unemployable and build roads, hospitals, etc and put people with you know SKILLS and ABILITIES to work. But hat would be unCanadian. So, looks like we’re stuck with postal workers, CBC, and Jack layton. makes ya want to go postal or something.
I believe Layton’s philibuster is showing solidarity towards the postal worker’s and their union more than any realistic attempt to stop the legislation from going through. It is futile though because what possible reason would Canada Post’s management have to negotiate with the union at all? The government has stepped in and ordered the posties back to work at a wage less than Canada Post’s last offer. Further proof of Harper’s contempt for the collective bargaining process.
spelling alert! should be “filibuster”.
did you know (I did not) that canada post owns 97% of purolator?
oops! that should be “filibuster”.
I did know that pg. I sure they made the purchase as a hedge against future strikes so they are not hurting as much as they claim.
Did I mention that I mis-spelled filibuster?

lol paingirl, that’s pretty batty!!
not a lot of folks like bats, but we do^^ http://www.nytimes.com/imagepages/2009/03/…

PG – the 3 bats were Mr and Mrs. Layton and Liz May.
The postie pic – 1 bag had mail in it the other had his union entitlements book in it, the bigger bag.
The 3rd bag falls under Sebastians domain.
Let’s be clear here…the posties are still making the same wage that they made before all this mess started. They are not making any less. What is different is that they are now going to receive reduced wage INCREASES (raises) than what they were originally being offered. I think some people were saying that they are getting less wages now. Just wanted to clarify.
What they’re getting is slightly less than Canada Post’s last offer as mandated by the government. An arbitrator is involved here but the role escapes me.
