I love dogs. Dogs are great. I don’t love dog owners. Too many dog owners are stupid rude ignorant jerks. Take my neighbour for instance. She’s getting a dog and says, “But don’t worry, I hate it when people allow dogs to bark all the time.” Your dog arrived as a cute well behaved one year old but is now a hysterical two year old that barks all the time indoors and out. And yes, we can hear your dog barking from inside your house because you leave your windows open facing our house. And we’ve seen you letting your dog out off it’s leash when you are too lazy to walk him and watching as he takes a dump on our property. You’re all class you ignorant hypocrite. —Dog Lover

OP, there are some great dog owners out there. I had a german shepherd for 10 years and went by the firm belief that a tired dog is a good dog, and it paid off. We lived in flats all his life and never once got a complaint from landlords or neighbours; in fact a few landlords who were at first reluctant to rent to us told me when I was moving out that they wouldn’t hesitate to rent to a dog owner again. I kept him groomed, socialized and excersized; When he was at home without me, nobody heard a peep, and he never chewed anything I didn’t buy for that specific purpose.
…correction: a tired dog is a good dog and happy dog! i took him just about everywhere with me, as long as it was allowed, including abroad when I moved away.
Even a bad dog is better than a great cat.

I had a German Shepard too. His original owner ditched him for alleged bad behaviour but he was absolutely perfectly behaved for the many years he was with us. Also extremely smart. In addition to needing to be tired out , the smarter they are the more mental stimulation they need. A bored smart dog is a bad dog.
I always equate dogs sniffing during walks to people reading. It infuriates me when I see impatient dog owners yanking sniffers.
Why oh why oh why do people have dogs if they’re not going to walk them? Why do people get big working dogs like Labs and think a walk around the block is enough? Why do people Why do get dogs and then leave them tied up out side 24 / 7 / 365 ?

i freaking hate the yankers too snubiz, it’s supposed to be enjoyable for both parties. probably the same people who yank on kid’s arms. i didn’t know that re:pu, the new shop on sgr looked busy when i went by, it’s pet valu or something. i already have three independent critter shops that get my limited monetary wealth
