This may be the busiest weekend the Khyber’s seen in a while. Quebec-based artist Eric Desmarais brings Le mot traduit le bruit des contingences passées (The Word Reflects the Noise of Past Contingencies) to town, an installation that examines the impermanence of sound by playing with its relationship with words and images. Also Palimpsest, an alternative magazine that brings together media-spanning pieces, launches its third issue. The Workers Installing a Work and its accompanying exhibit will feature work from BURGHARD, Willie Brisco, Craig Leonard, Bridget Moser and Robin Simpson. Both the opening and launch happen just in time for the Canadian Artists’ Representation/Le Front des Artistes Canadiens’ (CARFAC) national conference to roll into town, bringing with it a weekend of sessions, panels and events and calling the Khyber its home base.
Opening Thursday June 9, 7pm, Khyber ICA, 1588 Barrington Street
