hey lady guess what I’m not paying for your stepped on broke ass laptop that got stolen out of my car. The cd drive hard drive and motherboard were broken it was worthless. Maybe it cost 1200 4 years ago but its not worth nearly that much anymore even if it was working Leave me alone. I offered to fix your computer for free and this is what I get for it. I bought a hard drive and a power cord just to see if I could get the damn thing working but the motherboard was cracked when I opened the thing up. Leave me the fuck alone. I’ll never get the 250 dollars worth of parts that I bought for that piece of crap back either so why are you whining is the shell really worth that much to you?

  1. What an ass. Sell the parts on eBay and make a bundle. I feel like you can do your part in this world but you’re never guaranteed praise for your good deeds. Some day…

  2. Some people are never satisfied and it doesn’t surprise me that it’s a woman. Chalk it up to experience.

  3. IT must have been worth something or you wouldn’t have bought 250 bucks worth of parts ! IF you lost it give her a 4 year old lap top from a second hand computer shop…it’ll probably be less than 250 dollars !

  4. it’s usually better to replace the entire laptop than to fuck around with a lappy mobo. they’re way overpriced and you could likely get a new netbook for about the same $.

    4 year old laptop?
doubling time for technology is 18 or so odd months….
The thing had a cd drive. you can’t even get those anymore can you? they’re all dvd.
take the optical drive, hard drive, ram and chip out and you’ve almost got another working computer anyways. Oh and the screen is likely the most expensive part of the whole jobby if it’s not broken.
They should sell it for parts (to some unfortunate soul like themself) and recoup some cash to get the netbook.

  5. just sell the parts, keep what you spent, and give her back the rest if you feel inclined to do so.

  6. Hey everyone saying give back the individual parts…please re-read the post…the laptop was STOLEN, ergo no remaining parts other than the ones the OP payed $$ for. The Ebay suggestion is your best bet to recoup the $$ you have spent on troubleshooting her busted laptop, and ZZZ is correct, the LCD is almost always the most expensive portion of a less-than-new laptop.

In her case from the info you provided, it was a toss out, not worth repair…she should just piss off, suck it up and buy a netbook that will clearly out-perform her 4 year old craptop.

  7. why would you leave somne else’s laptop in your car unattended? You must have expected it to be stolen.

    replace the computer.

  8. @Rafiki: From the description it wasn’t even a laptop anymore…it was some old parts that are pretty much unusable for anyone other than another person that had the same crappy laptop.

Replace what? A broken 4 year old motherboard???

Get some IT experience and then comment about the dudes problem if you want to type like a smart-a$$.

  9. So says the OP. Like Rafiki, I’m wondering what a customer’s laptop is doing in the OP’s vehicle in the frist place other than the OP was returning it.

  10. The OP’s signed name is “Not helping people for free anymore ” I seriously doubt it was a “customer”, any business would have written this off post-haste with nary a blink or thought.

  11. The point is Der, that a acountability and a promise seems to not matter to the OP at all. If you say your going to do it, do it. If somthing gets stolen because you were carless, replace it. I would hate to have friends like you.

  12. Again with the talking out of your a$$ Rafiki…seems to be a trend for you perhaps? Though I am willing to offer the olive branch if I have actually truely offended you…

You do not know what the OP promisedsaid to the person in regards to replacing or fixing the clearly totaled craptop that was STEPPED ON (sounds pretty careless to begin with).

I stand by what I say, though I am careful what I promise people, there is always a caveat.

The OP most likely said..”Yeah I’ll have a look at it…”

Also he didn’t seem to indicate where in the car it was…maybe he got turned over by a thorough car thief that thought to pop the trunk? Not saying that he wasn’t careless…it gets cold at night still and if the MOBO wasn’t cracked…the low temp could have buggered it pretty badly…not too mention the condensation that would have formed as the car warmed up.

  13. On the one hand you come across as a decent person by offering to fix her laptop for free, yet on the other hand you strike me as an irresponsible wanker who leaves someone else’s valuable (to her) laptop in plain view in your car so some thieving gobshite can steal it. If you add to your bitch by saying you’re billing her for your car break in, then you’re a wanker….your call

  14. I have a busted laptop you can have to give this bitch to “replace” her old one. She wants it replaced? Well then replace it with an equally busted laptop.

  15. hehehe…good idea Pretty Kitty. I wonder what the lady would say to that. Probably change the facts and say it was never broken in the first place.

@Senile: You do not know if it was in perfect view at all…cars have trunks. Not saying that it was not careless and inconsiderate, but we don’t have all the facts here and assuming it was “left in plain sight” is not fair until we know for sure…how many people do you know that would do that? Most would even do that half-assed blanket over anything partially important (though I think that is just a loud HEY STEAL THIS! sign to car thieves).

  16. What ever the case, somone owes somone a stepped on, taken apart lap top; that for all the Op’s annoying friend knows, stole them selves, made up the theft story. and used the parts to construct the computer they entered this bitch from.

  17. yeah, sorry about the stolen part not quite sinking in…

and to be fair… I actually use a 8 year old laptop to enter my posts every morning. It’s not worth the crystals in the LCD, but it’s still fully functional. If the mobo was split like you said, she’s better off getting something new. You can’t repair that unless you’re some Dr. Manhattan type who can reconnect the uuber-small channels and somehow meld the wafer together.
This isn’t just a blown capacitor (which is still a major bitch to attempt, but do-able)…

tell em to get a new one… and maybe give em the HDD you bought to smooth things over, IF you even want to smooth things over. Netbooks/Laptops don’t ever come with enough disk space these days.
