  1. EXISTENTIAL ANGST

    The meaning of the saying, “Don’t judge a book by its cover” is to be taken metaphorically rather than literally as the bitcher has done. In other words, the reference is to humans rather than books. For example, someone may look like a dork but may not, in fact, be a dork. Maybe he’s just a wanker. But – and this is important – maybe he’s on the cover of a book and then the metaphorical/literal distinction becomes blurred. The ontology is thrown into question
    giving rise to considerable existential angst. Perhaps the bitcher was right.
