Free speech is great. Hate speech is not. If I could help it, I would never have an abortion, I don’t agree with the process of having metal tools scrape my insides. But I would let my teeth rot out before I preached to any person that abortion is so wrong. It is so disgusting that people think themselves so correct to shame the people who need to make this decision! This absolutely life changing decision is hard enough as it is. —An angry lady
This article appears in Jan 29 – Feb 4, 2015.

So it would be okay if they didn’t use metal tools?
You may hate what they say, you may hate how they say it, but that doesn’t make it hate speech. I’m not saying they’re right, I’m not saying I agree with them, but the moment you even attempt to use the “hate speech” argument to stifle dissenting opinion you have lost any credibility you may have had.
And please stop using the It’s My Vagina argument. It is, no argument from me.
Until of course you do something stupid with it, and then it becomes society’s responsibility to deal with your piss poor judgement. Scrape it, raise it, educate it, incarcerate it? Your Body – Society gets the bill
Actually they suck it out like a vacuum.
IS THE POPE GUILTY OF HATE SPEECH?
“Free speech is great. Hate speech is not.” An Angry Lady
Preaching against abortion is not hate speech. Hate speech relates to issues such as racism, ant-Semitism, homophobia and so on. Those who “preach against abortion” maintain that the fetus inside you is a human being, not fully actualized of course, but a human being nonetheless. In other words, to have an abortion in their view is tantamount to murder. Are they wrong? Then demonstrate it on rational grounds, not in reference to the purported “ownership” of your vagina or, for that matter, your uterus. That is irrelevant to the issue. What is that issue? To repeat, it is the ontological status of the fetus. The Pope believes that the fetus is ontologically human at the moment of conception. Now, tell us why he is guilty of hate speech.
A pleasure as always,
Cheerio!
Fuck off, Ivan. Your old ass is going to be “societies burden” in a few years, just like mine. Everyone is societies burden when it comes to healthcare. Besides, societies burden is lightened with an abortion. An unwanted child born to parent/s who cannot afford it/want it will cost society much more than an abortion. 18 years of welfare/a lifetime of corrections…or 10,000 for an abortion? My choice is clear.
OB, it has nothing to do with being your vagina. As a free person with free will, you are free to choose your own destiny and your decision is guaranteed to you free of coercion, like all voluntary medical procedures. Fuck sakes, we’ll even pay for people with hormone imbalances and mental issues to become the gender they think they should be, not based on medical science but on personal opinion.
there is no such thingas HATE SPEECH…stop using it. It is not a legal term anymore. Hate propaganda is however….
Harper D, I’m proudly pro-choice but it comes with a price and my price is that I can bitch about those too fucking lazy and too fucking stupid to prevent something that is 100 FUCKING PERCENT AVOIDABLE. The problem is, those who should be terminating the life signs of future young offenders, aren’t. And that precious Right To Choose is being used as just another form of cosmetic surgery by South End Progress Club Princesses whose afternoon sessions with the tennis pro at the Waeg have lead to an unexpected surprise.
Crumudgeonly Grousing is NOT Hate Speech.
Now change my fucking adult diaper and don’t spare the onguent around my ballon knot. It chafes.
This bitch is an attempt to distract us from the Dal scandal! It’s a plant from the Ladies Lynch MoBBery so they can forward their sneak attack plans on the boy’s frats… Beware guys! BEWARE!
I have a dandy solution. compulsory vasectomy for all males at age 12. its cheap, easy and reversible. non chemical, non carcinogen. no more conniving bitches landing you in court for child support. yippee.
women won’t have to get sick on the lousy birth control pills, won’t get cervical cancer from the lousy iud’s and won’t have to get invasive surgery so that men can spurt at will.
and won’t have to beg and plead when that birth control shit fails and get called murderers
yes, there are princess abusers but man, I tried everything, anything and still kept getting pregnant. and one of my iuds (dalkan shield) was later part of a class action lawsuit for the cervical cancer that I and others got. the pill made me vomit it back up immediately because guess what??? it makes your body think you are a little bit pregnant, and if you are prone to morning sickness, you will be sick on the pill.
birth control has GOT to get better, it is insane in this day and age we still get pregnant when we don’t want to!!!
Or – we could spay all 12 year old girls who can’t pass a basic, age level determined, english/mathematics test.
No more sad listless dead-eyed infants in Escalade sized strollers on the 52, being ignored by equally listless, dead eyed brood sows (no fuckin’ way I’m calling them “mothers”). Shawty can knock all dem boots she want, just no baby bonus check to help pay for her prom dress.
Am I the only one that thinks shouting “My Vagina! My Choice!” Makes people sound like they’re in grade 2? Like who are they trying to convince here – 95% of people already understand that.
I actually like the idea of compulsory reversible vasctomy. I mean we get a whole bunch of other shit forced on us as kids – Braces, tonsils removed, wisdom teeth taken out, circumcision in some cases…at least vasectomies are reversible and could save a lot of unnecessary bullshit.
I think everyone’s made good points here. Tyring to derail someones opinion entirely because you don’t agree with it, citing ‘hate speech’ is childish and goes against our core values in this society. You can, however, aggressively disagree with someone. Nothing brightens my day more than telling an anti-abortion protester where they can hide their pamphlets.
If you’re gay, you won’t get pregnant…
I suggest mandatory homosexuality for all, until people can pass a means test and prove they want children. They will sign an agreement stating they take full responsibility for their children. If they don’t/can’t, then the children are aborted.
I agree with froggy on that one, enforced homosexuality until 25. that takes care of those teenager raging hormones for boys where they can happily poke each other 24/7 with contests to see who can spurt fastest, and gives the girls all the touchy-feely good stuff, plus teaches them how to have splendid orgasms (if they go hetero for first sex – they may never get one) with lots of pyjama parties and all the ice cream they want.
each can briefly dip into the hetero pot when they want to breed.
and because I agree with ivan on the sub humans breeding ( did you know that the puppy killer’s spawn has also spawned fucking TWICE) spackle up the bitches’ vaginas and make the gangstas’ dangly bits dangle no more

Hahaha I was just looking for that very thing, Ivan.

“My uterus, my choice” shouldn’t it be?
Hard nut to crack this issue, a)kids are going to fuck, b)kids are often ruled by hormones and c) kids don’t always have the best judgment (see b)). Obviously the best choice is to avoid getting pregnant to begin with but, beyond that, easy access to publicly funded abortion is my choice as it is cheaper than the taxpayers raising the child and we already have 7 billion of us on this planet.

Read the bitch over again. (Try not to move your lips.) What’s the issue? No, it’s not about contraception however conceived. What it is? That’s right, it’s about ABORTION. Repeat the word silently over to yourselves. (Try not to move your lips.) One of the distinguishing features of intelligence is restricting one’s comments to the matter at hand. Indeed, one might say that it is foundational to the other distinguishing features of intelligence since, before they can come into play, one must know what one is talking about.
So what is this foundational, distinguishing feature of intelligence called? You’ve got it! It’s called “focus!” I know it’s not easy if one has a butterfly mind but you must try. Good luck and Godspeed.
A pleasure as always,
Cheerio!
my butterfly mind creates tsunamis in Indonesia.
but yes, it was about abortion, but one could consider the plethora of baby-mommas an abortion of society.
(3rd addendum) any anyway, digression is fun – h caulfield
Does it also cause abortions? You must try to focus on the matter at hand.
my first attempt at pastry was an abortion…
Nobody gives a flying fuck what you think, you lime coloured streak of catarrh. Focus on that. Now, go back to accusing your housekeeper of meddling with your collection of souvenir spoons.

We can all read MM. We all understood. We chose to discuss other matters. Now, what’s your problem… not getting enough attention? Children… my, my.
MM I read it again but I moved my lips and it screwed everything up. Sounds like the moving of lips is the real root of this problem. lol
He is just hoping someone will equate the moving of lips with queefing so he can go on a labial tangent.

Well, no it’s not a matter of my not getting enough attention still less is it a matter of airily “choosing to discuss other matters” as you mindlessly put it. Rather, it’s a matter of restraining your ego – I realize this will be difficult for you – and focusing on the matter at hand, i.e., what the bitch is about.
Ho1$t (02/04, 1:18AM)
It’s not so much a matter of moving of the lips themselves which is the real root of the problem” but rather what the moving of the lips implies, i.e., a serious deficit in intelligence mounting, in some cases, to idiocy. Perhaps matters will improve if you get more sleep.

“Queefing?” Is that what they call it in the ghetto these days?

How did you come to the conclusion that the two were related? Phrenology? I need sources, man, sources! Studies!
“Frink, are you mad?! Put down that science pole!”
The “science pole?” Is that what they call it in the ghetto these days?
It’s kind of ironic that the people who would make decent, responsible parents also choose to have fewer or no kids because of their self-awareness and sense of responsibility. At the same time, the lesser lights of our society who lack the financial means and personal skills to properly raise kids….………well, you know how it goes…..
Dear angry lady,
Why don’t you make him cover it up, take the pill or abstain? Problem solved. No poor unfortunate fetus to kill.

Just because hate speech isn’t a legal term in Canada (your article notes its against the law still in other countries) doesn’t mean it’s not a thing.
it isnt in the eyes of the law…the PROPER term..is hate propaganda…which IS recognized by the Human Rights act and can be actioned.
“Hate speech” is, indeed, “a thing”.
Invariably when someone’s losing a political argument.
Back to the original comment about “choice.”
Dear OB, you do realize that your right to exercise choice over your own body begins long before you find yourself looking up the phone number of the good doctor’s clinic, right?
As in, you have a choice about who you share your body with, a choice about using effective birth control, and a choice about insisting your partner does the same.
If you handle these first 3 choices well, there is a much greater possibility that you will never find yourself in need of the 4th choice that seems to be bothering you so much right now.
And by the way, this choice has been legally available for quite some time now. The rest of us even pay for it, regardless of how we feel about it, so I think you could dial down your anger a little bit on this one.
And people holding alternate views on the issue does not necessarily mean “hate.” Hate is what happens if someone harasses or threatens an advocate, a patient, or an employee. But merely expressing an opinion on the issue is not in itself hateful.
I suspect they were members of the local Ladies Lynch MoBBery.
Cuja12, you should look at those dislikes in a different light. Those who disliked your comment were disturbed because you forced them to look at reality.
They were perfectly content living in their own little fantasy world until you came along…
Good for you!

“Back to the original comment about ‘choice.'”
But you are wrong. The “original comment” was not about “choice” but rather about the ethical question of abortion. Some (the Pope for instance) would reject your claim out of hand. They would maintain that you have simply, and illegitimately, legislated the answer to that question as being one about “choice.” But it’s not.
You may have the “choice” about who you share your body with, about effective birth control and about insisting your partner does the same but – I don’t suppose you can see this – these “choices” are irrelevant to the issue at hand, i.e., the moral issue of abortion. In the same way, these choices may have been legally available for some time now but, once again, they are irrelevant to the issue at hand which, to repeat “ad nauseam” (that’s Latin meaning “to the point of nausea”), the moral issue of the legitimacy of abortion.
Of course, in legislating your answer to the question of the ethics of abortion as being one of unhindered “choice” you hope to elevate yourself to a position superior to those who would engage the ethical question of the ontological status of the fetus. However, people like you never engage the question at that level since, for them, ontology and ethics to say nothing of philosophy in general, are just non-starters. The irony of course is that while unknowingly possessing a philosophy of their own, they just assume their unsupported assertions to embody the Truth, the way reality should be conceived.
Please don’t try and wriggle out of this by the “ad hominem” route, by charging me with being a Catholic reactionary. I am not. That said, you’ve got to meet Pope on his own grounds. Let’s hear it then.
A pleasure as always,
Cheerio!
^^The majority of the world’s people, including many Catholics, don’t care what the Pope thinks about abortion or any other issue. Put that in your proverbial pipe and smoke it.
OB, if the anti abort nutz getting in your face is bothering you. Try another tactic, get a pizza box head to the clinic around lunch time . No abortion seeking female here ….. Just the pizza delivery girl ~ ; )
Your body your choice …. & while it might have a cost for the proceedure , as a tax paying citizen you are paying for it every day , take care

Really? How did you know that the majority of the world’s people, including many Catholics, don’t care what the Pope thinks about abortion or any other issue? You could be right but do you have any grounds for asserting that claim? Did you do a survey of the majority of the world’s people, including many Catholics, or did you arrive at this knowledge by a direct, immediate and unerring insight into the matter? Don’t disappoint. Write back soon.

“Anti abort nutz?” Don’t you think that is prejudging the issue just a tad? Why are they “nutz?” How did you know this? Or like Post ‘Em above, was your knowledge the result of your direct, immediate and unerring into the matter? Write back soon.
A pleasure as always,

^^ ” How did you know that the majority of the world’s people, including many Catholics, don’t care what the Pope thinks about abortion or any other issue? “
It’s a matter of common sense. Begin with the simple fact that Catholics form a minority of the world’s population. Then, sit in front of a mirror and ask yourself, “what makes me think that anyone other than a subset of the Catholic faithful would care about the Pope’s pronouncements?”
To help you with this consider that the Pope interprets Catholic teachings whereas the majority of the world follow other religions or none at all. Then, answer this question: why on earth would non-Catholics care about how the Pope interprets Catholic teachings?
Anyway, take your time reflecting on this. Let me know what you come up with.
see what happens when you let ’em come to term??? http://www.galwaydailynews.com/2014/06/04/…
or if you don’t catch them in time http://www.galwaydailynews.com/2015/02/02/…
No, it’s not a matter of “common sense,” whatever that might mean. “Common sense” can mean anything to anybody. It is an “empty concept.” Read my comment over again. I asked a very simple question about the grounds for making the assertion you did: Was it intuitive insight or empirical research? Take your time.
Grand craic, Molly. What’s an Irish stew without a bit of Onion, to be sure.
the best one is the snowstorm. I stuck it on my fb. couldn’t tie it into any of the bitches.
MM, I asked the same of you, Charlatan. Remember? The moving of the lips? What’s good for the goose is good for the megalomaniacal pedant.
No, I don’t remember, but I’m glad you spelt “megalomaniacal” correctly. Did it take you long or did you just copy it from one of my posts?
Oh come now. This is beneath you. What happened, man? Sometimes I think Nukka came to Lachine and locked you in the basement, assumed your identity. You are slipping and it tears me up inside. A simple ghetto youth has got the better of you. Ad hominem, and away!
You’re right, it is beneath me. Now you must go away. Give my best to the boys in the ghetto.
Mumbler, how I know they are nutz is elementary, anyone who would protest outside & verbally assault complete strangers , in the street who are doing nothing to them . Are obviously unbalanced. If they want to get up on a soap box ( maybe milk cartons would be safer these days) & lecture, admonish …. SCREAM & YELL their opinions about abortion to the world , fine free speach is a right for all. But for anyone to attempt to physically bar , while verbally assaulting an individual going into a building , is extreme behaviour & IMO falls outside their right to free speach & would if it was being done to me . Become a physical altercation because I won’t take that abuse from anyone. So stand on your Milk Carton & howl your displeasure at the world as it passes by , but stay the fuck outta my face you crazy (aka nut’s) bastard
