Just because someone doesn’t agree with what you think, doesn’t mean you ignore them. When trying to come to consensus, consensus does not mean exclude all people who hold different ideas then yours, so that you can surround yourself with only those who vote the same as you. Blocking people on FB (now we can’t even see each others posts in the group), and trying to create a decision making committee goes against all the principles of direct democracy. Learn to use logic, and rationalize things. Assertiveness and aggression are not synonyms. If we all hid our faces, and never spoke up when we disagree the world would be a stupid and meek world indeed. Your activist group will always suck until you can learn to discuss and decide effectively. Democracy is tedious work, but it is worth it. —get real, or go home

Yes but Democracy assumes wrongly that all living humans have to abide by it ‘For the Greater Good’ as it were… some people don’t want your democracy and, before you spit self-righteous venom at Communists or Facists or anyone with other opinions other than your own, remember your own democratic principles: Freedom, which,yes, means Freedom to disagree, to disobey and to disdain.

^^ I met Tuxedo Stan’s owners once. I feared they were being manipulated into doing Stan’s bidding – awed by his handsome face and furry affection they did his bidding by carrying him around and putting him forth as a mayoral candidate. They were his puppets and he the puppet master. ….. But I was afraid to speak out. I guess I was awed by Stan as well … being a cat and all, myself. And I suspected that he only wanted to befriend me for my ability as the only computer literate cat in town so I kept my distance from his entourage. ………..But now, alas, that’s all in the past since Stan is no longer with us. I can’t think of a better way to build a consensus than to block anyone that disagrees with the group. That’s how our political parties work isn’t it?
its the new art of debate…lesson 1..if ANYONE disagrees with your position, even if completely backed up with facts, logic, reason…go NUCLEAR. Explode, shout nasty things, drown out the opponent with vapid, lunatic speech as LOUD as possible. SHE who shouts louder the longest is the winner!! An acquaintance defriended me(in hindsight im glad she did) about pointing out that the Dal 13 didnt break any laws within the boundaries of the CCofC, despite her insistence they actually were rapists…go figure.

Hear! Hear! I assume you are referring to those self-absorbed megalomaniacs who feel that this site is their private possession to which they admit only their camp followers. They seek out acolytes – surprisingly with some success, particularly but not exclusively among compliant females – but unleash their blind, incoherent aggression, screaming their foul abuse at those who refuse the acolyte’s candle.
My only reservation is your use of “rationalize” which does not mean being rational but rather engaging in specious reasoning to support their untenable views.
