To the person who stole my Ipod touch: I hope you get fat.
Seriously, it was the only thing that kept me going through my monotone Bio teachers lectures about the difference between DNA and RNA.
It not only had the best artists ever on there (To name a few: Jimi Hendrix, CCR, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, BB King) It also had my favorite pictures, notes from my friends and emails.
I’m driving to New York soon. What the hell am I going to listen to?
That thing cost me 200 bucks!

That’s what you get for listening to your fucking ipod during a lecture.
Listening to your mp3 player during a class is just disrespectful and fucking rude. Why bother going to class at all. If I was a prof and any one of my students were listening to an ipod during class I’d throw them the hell out.
I’d actually say, that’s what you get for owning an iPod. They’re crazy desirable, and you’ll probably see it on sale on Kijiji in a few days for 150. It’s kinda like owning a “starter” jacket back in the mid-90’s, they’re a target for thieves. There are so many better mp3 players out there… and less likely to get stolen too. The thief did you a favour.
Radio.
“I hope you get fat” lol
Dr F’s right: my current ipod’s battery SUCKS. I’ve had it for two months and it lasts for maybe 3 hours. Thing IS it’s the fifth one I had within a span of a week with shitty battery life so I”m guessing it’s this gen’s problem. My 2nd gen nano’s battery still goes for 12+ hours…but oh no not this one.
I’d love to go back to creative labs (I have a zenmicro!) but it’s not compatible with my Mac 🙁
I went samsung P2. ipods are nice and all but are by far the most desirable by public opinion. I figure it’s the ‘status symbol’ it represents as they are certainly not the best players on the market.
OP, glass half full is that it’s better to have lost it than been swarmed for it.
I’ve got a Sony NWZ-686. Noise canceling features, 30 hour battery life, 8 GB of space. Solid unit all around and sound quality that’ll kick an iPod’s ass. OP, do some shopping around next time, and you can spend less than 200 on a really good player, and you won’t have to worry about it getting stolen.
I’m just sitting picturing you sitting there in class, slumped in your seat all rebelious and stuff, like the Fonz…thinkin’ you’re too cool for DNA and RNA. So, you listen to the likes of Jimi Hendrix, CCR and Bob Dylan..plus you’re driving to New York? Is it even possible for someone to be so hip??!
I hear your pain PK. I run a Linux computer and most of the time I go shopping for anything for my computer all I get is blank stares.
That said I love my Creative MuVo, and my CrackBerry’s memory card. I’m thinking the next player I get is going to have some kind of removable flash memory card in it, there aren’t very many media types I can convert to with my computer :).
Hey JohnnyB, they all look at you funny because if it doesn’t plug-n-play or point-and-click they don’t know how the fuck it works! What do you expect from a generation who think a Mac is a real power tool. LOL Thanks for posting.
I’ve got a Sony Ericson W810i phone, which is a 2.3MP camera and 4Gb MP3 player as well. It’s the best $322 I ever spent. I’ve had it for 2 years+ and have no problems with it. The ear buds are fantastic and my battery will last for 48 hours of music and phone usage. Fuck I-Pods! All they are is what zZz said, a status symbol. They’re shitty MP3 players and aren’t worth 1/10th of the cost.
Don’t get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy my ipod. I like the interface and the sound is great (and yah I like the fact that it’s purple and shiny :P), but the battery life is a huge fucking piss off. I called apple about it and they were all “well, you can send it back and we can take a look at it!”….uh…when I’ve had five different ipods and they all had the same issue, I doubt it’s this particular battery. And I don’t consider my ipod a “status symbol” at all. I could give two shits about that. I just needed (yes, needed: I wouldn’t survive without one!) an Mp3 player and ipod is the only thing I know of that is compatible with the Mac I happen to have.
I do enjoy sony, Dr. F. Their sound quality is fucking amazing. My dad just bought a vaio (I had one before my macbook…before it’s unfortunate accident…*shifty eyes*) and it has great picture, but even better sound quality than my macbook. It’s only downfall is a) it’s windows and b) it’s got VISTA. If I had to use it on a daily basis I’d go postal. If it was my comp I’d “upgrade” it to xp but that’s a whole other bitch in itself.
Anyway, while I like the sony players, I don’t think I’d ever own one because I’m not so hot on Sony’s stance on proprietary issues with regards to music. Maybe they mellowed the fuck out, but when you buy a simple CD and you are required to download software just to play it on your computer (software that ended up fucking people’s computers up to the point where sony had a class action suit placed against it and had to pay compensation in the end) I think you’ve gone too far.
I still use their earphones though.
PK– they don’t use proprietary anymore. In fact, the unit I have is fully compatible with Mac and Linux and accepts Apple’s AAC format. It can also handle Quicktime movie files (m4v). Finally, despite what you see yours as, most of the people who buy an iPod, don’t actually look around and make an informed decision. That’s coming from selling the pieces of shit in a former life, thereby making it a status symbol. They’re overpriced and have planned obsolescence.
Yah fuck an ipod touch who wants games on their mp3 player, having msn and gmail and OWA access sucks too… who would ever want portable internet/mp3/video player… the only thing i dont like about my itouch is fucking itunes
T— all stuff you can get on something just as ubiquitous: A crackberry.
Oh I agree fully, Dr F that they’re a sad status symbol, EVEN now that every schmuck on the street has one. I love how apple will change the shape of the nano ever so slightly between generations so you have to go out and buy all new accessories. They probably get some sort of financial incentive from companies who manufacture these products (esp the ones from the companies they sell on the apple site).
I like my ipod and am happy with it, but I think next time around I might consider something else, possibly the sony because your accounts of non proprietary and mac compatibility goodness intrigues and excites me at the same time.
Ipods are notorious for only having a 2-3 year life span. My last one lasted just under 2 years before the earphone jack started shorting out, and the click button always stuck. I bought a zen micro back in 2005 and it’s STILL working just fine (the battery is a bit worn out but other than that…). The life span of an ipod is intentional so people will go out and buy new ones…why else would they introduce a new and oh so much better generation every year? Honestly, I bought the ipod primarily because I didn’t think I could get a player compatible with mac. I guess I didn’t do my homework, but aside from the battery life, I’m ok with my ipod.
PS: what ever happened to the “iriver” players? They just disappeared one day.
Yah i can see ur crackberry point… but my cell runs me 30 bucks a month pretty hard to do with any data plan. I like the touch think it comes with a lot of cool features and no monthly plan.
I had a yp2 with blue tooth for a while but id say the touch is way better than that for features as for playing music they are all the same… pretty funny actually i had my itouch for a week before i ever put music on it… was rocking out with the last fm app
IRiver is still around, but primarily only in the US. They used to use a lot of Samsung stuff anyways (just re-branded/slightly altered) so, just buy a Samsung unit and you’ll get the same thing, more or less. Their claim to fame is really making the mp3 market viable; and was the only contender to the iPod during the early years, they’ve been surpassed since and I think they only offer 2 units now, both HDD players, which is becoming more and more outdated.
Betcha had at least $200 of stolen music on there.
I own a SanDisk Sansa MP3 player. No frills, 2GB, cost me $75 and I’ve had it now for almost 3 years with no problems. I laugh at people who tell me I should get a $300 IPOD if I truly “appreciate” music, and then thing crashes on them shortly thereafter.
Boo-fucking-hoo. I hope you get poor so you have to suffer some real hardships, spoiled bitch. I still use a ‘portable disc player’ **GASP!!**
And then I hope you get fat. And Ugly. You’re already stupid.
damn. i hope that guy gets fat too. nothing’s worse than an ipod getting stolen.
except getting FAT!!
