I’m upset: my favourite coffee shop, Ouro Preto, seems to have gone out of business. I went there EVERY DAY. I’m going to miss the kooky girls that worked there…..and where else can I go to escape my stressful, boring as hell job delivering IT technical support with a smile??? I’m pissed! What happened to those kooky girls??? I hope they’re ok and find work soon. Goddamnit it!!! I refuse to drink that shit at Tims!!

You’re going to see a lot more little businesses like this go under because of the economic climate. It’s sad really – only the box stores will survive, it seems.
As far as Tim’s swill goes, couldn’t agree with you more. I’d rather drink cockroach piss.
I know the girls who run Ouro Preto, they’re just as upset about it as you are. If you want me to keep you updated as to if they’re in another shop/restauarant soon I can. I’ll probably just send them the link to this anyways.
Susie, thank you for the support. Helen and I will miss eachothers kooky-ness too, no job will ever compare.
We are sad, very. We tried really hard to make it work. We have no clear plans at the moment, but hopefully we’ll have some good news for you soon.
Some things were just not meant to be. That spot was struggling for air upon opening. Sad, but true.
To the Kooky girls:
Good luck to you and don’t ever stop being kooky!

This makes me sad, I never had the chance to enjoy coffee there – but I hope they make out okay :).
I remember when that place first opened – literally. As in when it was not even Ouro Preto, but Spring Cafe. The whole Spring exterprise struggled there for a while, then died. The only thing left was the cafe, which changed it’s name. Now even the cafe is out of business, maybe that location is cursed? (jk) It’s a beautiful place, but it’s just far enough away from Spring Garden Road for people to pass over. It’s a shame.
