Living in Toronto and now Halifax, I’ve seen a fair share of homeless individuals. However, I’ve never been so disgusted at what I, unfortunately, had to witness the other day. Walking down the street, I saw a grown man walk by a homeless person, spit on him and say, “Get a job, you drunk.” Being lazy drunks is a common stigma towards homeless people, maybe a bit too common. If you believe this misleading notion, then you clearly haven’t spent any time with the homeless community. Also, how is one supposed to get a job with no money, no social capital, and no clean clothes, especially if there’s spit all over them? Unless you know their life story, not one person should stigmatize against homeless people. People should try to understand and help these individuals instead of casting them out of society. —MT

they are what they are, and some make more cash in one day, than you or i would in a week, and they pay no fucking taxes on any of it. so who pays for their health care and shit, we do. if that isn’t being fucking lazy, i don’t know what is. if you feel that bad for them, go live with them, and make a bundle.
