Stop putting your feet with dirty shoes up on the furniture. Do not put them up in class, do not put them up at the movie theatre, etc. You don’t do it at home (or do you?) don’t do it out. Especially do not put you dirty foot up onto the seat right next to my (or someone else’s) head. I don’t know what your mother taught you but it’s highly disrespectful to do so. Actually I do put my feet up at home (shoes, no shoes, clean, or dirty) and anything else I want to. It’s my home. What a moronic saying.
I never not sit with my feet up when I’m at home. I usually sit “indian style” or lounge a la chez lounge. My couches are super super comfy so I usually end up falling asleep 🙂 I’m usually in sock or bare feet though. As I hate pants, I usually disrobe upon entering the apartment and put on comfy clothes that do not include shoes (or pants for that matter). And I generally add a fuzzy blanket in there. I wish I had a fuzzy blanket now 🙁 And I wish I didn’t have to wear pants to work. Or like, in public. 🙁
I agree though about doing it in public. People used to do that in class all the time (me included), then I had a prof say it was tacky and banned it in classes, and I just got out of the habit. But, putting your feet up and putting them beside someone is just rude.
That reminds me of an episode of Fresh Prince. It was like one of, it not the first episode; Will was throwing chalk around the living room to keep it away from little Carleton and Uncle Phil came in and told him to stop and said, “How would you like it if I started throwing chalk around your room?” and Will said, “I’d be devastated”. Gets me every time :D!

The newest buses have two sets of seats that face each other in the back to accommodate the rear wheel well…there’s no shortage of slovenly assholes who put their feet up there and get the seats all muddy and wet in the process.
I’d also like to call out those that leave lecture theatres by going over the row in front of them, stepping on the seat in the process and leaving footprints. Guuys, there’s so much shit on the sidewalks this time of year and I’d rather not sit in it.
