Expectant much?
To the entitled bartender on New Year’s Eve:I don’t know what world you live in, but it’s not considered good service to demand tips from the patrons. I was about to pull out a twoonie to tip you with, when you snottily told me that it was “customary t

I don’t blame you one bit for leaving. I would have stayed longer got her to serve me a bit more and would not have tipped her at all. I hate those types of peopel so I nowe ONLY tip when I am WOWED at the service. Otherwise no tip for you!!!
Count yourself lucky… I just came back from Montreal and I was at a few bars there where tipping is REQUIRED and it’s 15%. A 6 dollar beer turns into a 7 dollar beer pretty quick.
I have had the same thing happen at a certain pizza place in Halifax Shopping Center. The waitress asked me for her tip and when I told her it was on the table she refused to give me my change back and said it was hers to keep.
I suck at calculating tips so a mandatory tip wouldn’t be so bad, except that then you have to tip a bad server. Any server who mentions their tip, in any of the ways mentioned here, is out of line.
B, I hope you went back to your table and took the tip you left. If any twat-server pulled that shit on me I’d call for the manager and get the bitch fired. I’d make a HUGE scene too.
B:i know if someone did that to me, I’d make a huge commotion and a scene. She wouldn’t have that job for much longer if they pulled that kind of crap.
tipping is never “required” the gratuity fee you paid is for the privilege to be in the establishment you were in, which can easily fall into 1 of 2 categories a) tourist/business person heavy with a high turnover/convenience where the “get em in get em out” is important . b) some place way over you price range where you think a $7 beer to the be remarked upon.if none of those two conditions apply then never go there again, it just reeks of a money grab.
