How the fuck is amazon.com cheaper than amazon.ca IN Canada? After shipping from the states, after importation taxes, after dollar conversions- significantly cheaper. And shipping times? The same.
Also, why are imported goods the same price now as they were when the dollar sucked? Because we are used to it- we’ll pay whatever. —coast enthusiast

Technically… the dollar is sucking now.
Not quite as bad as the 65 odd cents of long the past but we’re still at a 5 year low.

I don’t think it’s Amazon’s fault. Publishers set the prices. That’s why there are Canadian and USA prices on your books.

“Coast enthusiasts” don’t read books so the question is irrelevant.
People just don’t get that we are two different countries with different tax systems and economies. Canada is basically California, market wise. Think about it.
I’m pretty sure this is a generalization and based on a one-time transaction…
It’s called VOLUME.
It’s all fun and games until your package gets picked in customs for taxes and duties. Not all do – customs will randomly pick packages coming in.
You could have 100 http://amazon.com/ packages come in tax/duty-free, but have only one picked and get that little surprise.
Still makes it worth it. Unless ALL your packages happen to get picked.
And don’t bother with places that ship UPS. They rape you on the shipping and handling fees and have a habit of unreliable delivery and ‘losing’ your at-the-door payment (while your credit card statement shows you paid it). And then you have to deal with their stupid as fuck collections department.
I don’t buy online…
the gubment is watching.

I prefer the product reviews on dot com VS dot ca. Canadians are too polite to be hilarious
My girlfriend has tried to order books twice now from Amazon.com in hopes of tremendous savings compared to Amazon.ca. When it came time for the actual checkout and payment she was informed that several of her selections cannot ship to that address. Both times only one out of five or six books could in fact be delivered to our Canadian address from the United States. It seems like Amazon.com gives you prices in Canadian funds but doesn’t take into account that the shipping address is outside of the country and simply tells you how much it would cost, in Canadian dollars, to ship within the states.
