I hardly ever check my credit card charges or balances. I don’t fill up, I top up a couple of times a week. So I hit the net and check my card balance for a major credit card. The twat at a certain national gas station on Bayers has been hitting my card not only for the cost of fuel pumped but an additional 100 dollars security deposit (for an already authorized card or the pumps dont start… comprende?) and that sits on my card for not four days but four business days every single time I swipe at the pump. So that is twice a week. I pump 20 and get hit temporarily for 120 bucks. I hit the staff, no idea it was happening. Credit card says it is not their policy (according to the reps in India anyway). Our national gas retailer says not us (not sure if that call center was India or not) so what is the deal? Just a retailer trying to balance books four days at a time. This is a policy that should be made public, displayed on pump or whatever. Oh btw, yes you can debit at the pump. So now all I have to do according to the friendly and helpful dweebs on site is guess, oh I dont know, how much fuel it will take to top up the tank. Hey, I like that game! —Conservatively pissed

Take some cash out?
Also, if you prepay 50 dollars on your debit, and only use 45.00, than it doesn’t charge you the extra five.
I would contact the owner of the store and if that doesn’t work call da popo? Or go on talk radio or something teehee.
This information is posted on all the credit card company websites so not sure who you spoke with who didn’t understand. The fine print when I read it was $75.00 security deposit.
i hate fucking credit cards, too easy to get in over your head. i had a carte blanche a few years back, with a hundred grand limit. i could have maxed that sucker out in a week. and the thing is, i never applied for it. they sent it to me, when i had my amer. express., that was good for 50 grand, at the time. i used it a few times, and fucking near shit, when i got monthly bill. 38,000.00 fucking bucks.
no idea how it got that high, but have one suspicion.
WTF LS!!? Is that why you live in Fairview?
I dont have credit cards and I dont want to have any. Neither does my husband. We both use cash or debit.
Same here, bon.
Standard in the industry. It’s a Visa / MasterCard rule, they run the show and have everyone by the balls. It’s so that if you only have $50 of credit left, then you dip your card and authorize the pump, then you pump $60 and drive away and the transaction does not complete because of not enough credit. Visa and MC will cover the station up to $150 so they protect themselves up to (or about) that much. After that it’s on the station.
OP, you must have a very low credit card limit. If you pay inside with your credit card, there is no $100-$150 deposit required. If you have a good credit history, you can request an increase.
Who needs credit when you gots cash to use insteads? Pfft.
mel. sweetie, i lie here bacause i like the area. and it behooves me to think of the shit that is now going on, almost daily. it used to be really cool here,. when the angels had their clubhouse down the road.
thanks to all the cry babies, they are gone now, and the wannabes, are well, just fucking wannabes. time to get out the a.k. i guess, and a few dozen mags.
So how do you non-card holders book flights or hotels? Own a card, keep a low limit on it, and pay it off before the next billing cycle. It’s not rocket science
Flight centre works just fine for flight booking.
Some of us are better off without credit cards. Trust me 😉
I always pay for gas with my CC and have NEVER had a $100 “security deposit” or anything even close to that.
What does the call centre being in India have to do with your lack of ability to manage your credit card debt?
