I think that you’re very handsome and would love an opportunity to talk to you! I’ve never been fortunate enough to be remotely close to you on this rather packed bus to even consider mustering up the courage to say something to you, but maybe some day I will. Besides, I’m not entirely certain how receptive you would be to a tea and sometimes sleep deprived gal in the early hours of the morning. So until then, I’ll continue to smile at you as you get on. —Bus Rider

  1. Once again no details!!! For crying out loud people give some idea to the person you’re writing about…I’m sure this isn’t the only man on the bus and I’m sure you’re not the only woman on the bus. Z3…Jonno…you guys ride the bus??….make eye contact with every chick on route home today and see if you can track this chick down! Bring a copy of the Coast to try and draw out smirks or red cheeks on the OP.

  2. On it.

🙂 I’m not arguing with a crazy, craved, foaming at the mouth preggers….

luckily, I think he and I are taking different buses today too… so twice the chances.

  3. I’m sorry if I sounded bossy! 🙂 …I’m much more of a pushover then bossy. Except to the bf…I’m milking this pregnancy thing as long as I can! jk!!

I was saying it in more of a “Go Team” kinda tone to Z & jonno. Promise.

  4. Heehee, first thing I thought when I read this love was “shit, did *I* write this?” and then I read the “I’ll smile at you when YOU get on….” and realized I couldn’t’ve because MY crush is on a certain bus driver of a certain dal bus at a certain [8:15am] Scotia Square departure time…so I smile at HIM when I get on the bus ^_^

He’s so adorable and says good morning to everyone!

    …probably married/otherwise taken though *grumble* 🙁

  5. Hmmm…. I would do what you’ve suggested RC but you’ve already labeled me as Creepy Stare Guy…. HAHAHA.

If this chick rides the 21, let it be known now! I can think of a couple of candidates offhand from the extreme early goers we commute with.

Although wait a sec…. this love is addressed to a gentleman. I am afraid I claim a not-guilty plea in this case.

  6. It’s a chick who wrote it…and it could be directed at you or Z3??? But the 2 of you are so consumed by your hatred of work that you may not be noticing her longing stares from a distance. 🙂

  7. Wait a sec…. who is saying that I hate work????

And PK… I am glad you stipulated that it’s only “MOST” MEN. 😉

  8. At first I thought this might have been about me, but then I read further and came to the conclusion that it probably isn’t because: 1) The bus I ride usually isn’t what I would consider “crowded” and 2) I’ve never noticed any girls smiling at me when I get on (though I could just be completely oblivious). *le sigh*

  9. See Brend-Orga…this post is giving a lot of people false hope….but maybe in a good way…It’s always nice to dream. Heck …I’m a chick and I don’t even ride the bus…but a girl can dream 🙂

  10. Yesterday, zed, when you made a comment about RC eating a pickle and tuna sandwich with oreos, I was like “oooh that sounds good” (except with the oreo), so today I made a sandwich with tuna and pickles.

    I’m eating it now.

    It is delicious.

    Thanks for the suggestion, bud!

  11. Homemade Sheppard’s pie today…and half a bagel…ok ok the whole bagel…and I have an Oh Henry in my purse for later 🙂 Preggers can only eat tuna once a week because of the mercury.

  12. mm… I sometimes get a craving for tuna, bot a picke fan though. the secret incredient in my tuna melts is a bit ketchup. (ick, I know – childhood holdover) Today was leftover stirfry. And there’s a bday in the office so I get cake too!! woot!

  13. i put curry in my tuna, and i dislike ketchup/catsup…unless it’s to coverup something that i am too polite not to eat. nothing helps brussel sprouts…gag

  14. Oooh ralmn — ketchup on tuna melts = heaven. Then again, I put ketchup on poutine too, which I’ve been told is unusual 😛 Use a bit of relish for the tuna salad part with some miracle whip and throw in a squart or two of lemon juice. And I find the light kraft singles are better than the regular ones.

Put some ketchup on top and mmm!

No wonder we go through a squeeze bottle of ketchup a week…we put it on everything.

It’s super yummy on a toasted english muffin or some regular white toast. Make sure you butter the bread first, though ^_^

  15. ketchup on grilled cheese is weird I’m told…. I think it’s yummy.

and RC, IIRC there’s three times the mercury in albacore tuna…
so any other kind, skipjack, yellowfin… you can have 3 cans a week.
    🙂
    yay!

  16. lol Z. Ketchup on grill cheese is for people from Ontario…it’s normal there. Anytime I see someone do it here – I always find out they’re from Ontario. Weird.

    IIRC???

  17. If I recall correctly. See? I’m getting the hang of these things!

Anyway, I always have a squirt (squart, PK? I like new words, deliberate or not!) that I “dip” my grilled cheese into. I blame it on the 50s diner in my hometown, they bring our little paper cups of ketchup with your grilled cheese… became slightly addicted to those suckers. I can’t seem to make them the same at home! And it’s just cheese, bread, and butter FFS! (see another acronym!)

  18. Mmm grilled cheeses are delicious! Ketchup goes well on them 🙂 …I used to put salt on them too. Buuut that was back when I had a, uh, ‘problem’ with salt. I’d put it on everything….ham, bacon…toast….dear GOD.

  19. Also, ralmn: where would one find a pair of ‘bossy panties’…I’m intrigued and kinda want a pair!

  20. I like making my grill cheese with hard cheese now – not slices and putting bacon in them too….and lots of butter when grilling. but I don’t dip those in ketchup.

  21. I can’t go looking for panties at work or I’d be escorted out in short order….
    you’re on your own.

and yes, I am from ontario…. ages ago.

  22. I used to use the hard cheese, but went back to my slices. The sandwich, upon completion, has to be cut in And true story: the light kraft singles are better than the “grilled cheese” kraft slices…you just gotta put two of those on there 🙂

  23. since when has YOUR name been ralmn, zed?

    HUH? HUH?

You just WANT to go looking for panties at work, don’t you?

    *shakes head*

  24. So when are we going to get more hints on this bus love? OP- we can help you get he whom you desire!

    Sincerely….. the committee

  25. Bossy panties: true story, I had a pair that say “little miss bossy” on them, not like I wear them, but they were a joke found at wmart, I believe… ages ago.

My bf at the time thought it was funny. Me, not so much.

  26. Aww I love the mr men/little miss series! I’m compiling a collection of them to put in a basket for a friend of mine who’s having a babby along with some other goodies (including some mercer mayer little critter books heehee) 🙂

  27. the kraft fat free actually have 5 grams of protien! true story… pretty sure it’s whey too, which can be expensive elsewhere. the only ‘American Cheese’ I enjoy, really….
makes excellent GC, you just have to ease up on the butter so it gets nice and crispy…

  28. The fat free is….ok…you have to get the kraft though because the black diamond fat free is tasteless.

    Blech.

  29. I came from Ontario…ages ago…and my grilled cheese is not the same if I don’t have ketchup and bread and butter pickles on the side. Funny thing is, I don’t use ketchup for anything else, except, occasionally fries.

  30. My ex wife thought I was a savage for dipping my grilled cheese in ketchup- she preferred a dollop of strawberry jam.
I love it with ketchup, but the jam option is good too. I imagine a mango salsa would be good…

The Lord Nelson has a great grilled cheese with ham sammy. I believe it’s hard cheese. I like the edge of hard cheese, but slices do have their own charm and taste I can’t knock.
    Hungry!

  31. Is peanut butter with sliced banana and honey an Ontario thing too? Because that’s one of my favorites as well = )

  32. I haven’t had a grilled cheese in years. Anyone here ever had tabasco on their KD?

Now, I’m guessing OP is a passenger because people who get on crowded buses stay in the front generally. I’m oblivious to this stuff soI can’t offer any clues. What I CAN offer is advice. Slide your way on back and say hi. Just be polite on your way back and people will yield.

PK, any clues on your driver crush’s appearance? I might be able to fill you in on marital status if I know him.

Jonno, 21 in the morning? I do a trip on said route 2 mornings a week so you may have seen me. I’ve only got one week to go before I go back to fill-in work.

PDG, you need to write more.

  33. Oooh PDG! He has dark short hair (yeah, that’s not typical, is it?), he’s sort of athletic-built, probably mid 30s, great smile…ummm I typically see him on the 10 dal that gets to scotia square at 8:15am. He’s super friendly and cheery and says hi to everyone who gets on…if I get on his bus tomorrow i’ll try to gather some more distinguishing features 😛

  34. great way to narrow it down there…

    hmmmm, he’s an adult male… human…. with some hair… and a face.
He has arms and legs…. growing out of his torso, of all places.
Oh, and he has two eyes….. that’s the perfect amount of eyes…..
He also has this habit of positioning his feet up to 4.3 degrees off perpendicular as he sits with the door open… though most people don’t notice so that won’t help you out in any way… but I’ll mention it because he’s Dreamy McSteamy…

    HAHAHAHAHA

PS, if it’s who I’m thinking of, I know his GF.

  35. Zed, I’m not in the mood for your shenanigans today! Politeness week is OVER.

I really can’t narrow it down more than that because the guy really is kind of generic looking…*shrug* But I’m sure the world WILL keep spinning on its axis and I somehow WILL go on living my life if I never find out who this man is or ever see him again.

PS: stop being mean to me because I’ve had enough meaness come my way lately and I’m more on edge than poor hormonal pregnant RC today.

    Guys, I need a big hug 🙁

  36. Sorry you’re having a rough week PK…and it’s only Monday! *hugs* all around.
Hope you guys all had a great weekend! How was the dog show Miss Pain? I wanted to bring the little man but we had 2 birthday parties this weekend. Plus I think I’m getting a tough of that flu …or the sleepless nights have begun ealy in the pregnancy…even little man didn’t sleep well last night 🙁

PS: Ivan I think you’re great!

  37. Loves ya too RC. I can be having the kind of week when Life is treating me like he caught me ogling his 16 year old daughter at the beach and your gentle kindness here can always make me smile. You must be a helluva Mom.>: ) Hope you and yout little guy get better real soon. Screeeeeeeeeeee!

  38. Thanks for the hugs, guys, *sniff* I really needed that!

zed *sigh* a friend of mine is being really mean…or was really mean. I was really sad about it last week but now I’m just mad they made me sad. I just don’t know what I did to deserve the meaness 🙁 I’m a nice girl…or at least I try to be *sniff*

PS: RC — hope you’re feeling better soon!

  39. Heehee every time I see your screen name, Kim, it makes me think of my mom (her name is kim too :)) and that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy (because my mom’s the BEST!).

  40. Thanks Ivan. I’m an awesome mom…except I need to work on the whole discipline thing! It’s hard to be bad cop.

Thanks Z…love it when I’m called a frog. (My little guy called me a pig last night…in no way did he mean it as Mom you’re a pig…but it still hurt a little. He then explained that pigs were cute and cuddly… kids!!)

  41. Good news PG, the hobo is back! Yes, with the rifle, but when this portrait came up on a GIS, I couldn’t say no.
