  1. wow, everyone is mum when its time to say something positive. i will go, Halifax has a great artist scene for crafts and folk art. oh, and tons of green space for its size.

  2. I love the festivals. Lebanese festival, Greek festival, Italian festival, Fringe festival, Film festival, Flamenco festival, Tall Ships, Buskers, Pop Explosion, Jazz festival, Pride festival, Blues festival. It goes on and on. Halifax is Festivalland.

  3. I’ve lived a lot of places, but no one takes advantage of patio season quite like Halifax. The best part is that it’s not restricted to restaurants; I see people in their own neighbourhoods eating al fresco when the weather is nice.

  4. I second the first 2 comments and add… Dapopo Theatre, Shakespeare by the Sea, Obstructed View Productions, The Bus Stop Theatre, the Brewery Market, Mexico Lindo restaurant, the Marquee, Eastern Front Theatre, the Old Triangle, the harbour cleanup (because even if I’m not quite ready to swim in it yet, it sure is nice to walk near the water or watch it from the ferry and NOT see all manner of repulsive debris floating around there…). Google them all, if you’re not familiar with them, and go have some fun!!For a small city, we’ve got all kinds of crazy fun things going on, none of which would be possible without the PEOPLE who make this place home – not all of whom are native to these parts.

  5. And don’t forget that Halifax is the birthplace of the almighty Halifax Donair. What more could you want?

  6. Oooohh! Good one, Plonk. Nowhere else in the country can you get a proper donair. Care to weigh in on Halifax’s BEST donair? I bet Coyotex HATES this thread. Better watch out. He might sue us. With his Lawyer.

  7. For the donair lover here’s a story for ya. Had a bud from Mtl come down long time ago to work the Moosehead Grand Prix.Took him to Robert’s donairs in Dart . He asked for a camera and a pack of smokes. He wanted to take a pic cause he couldn’t fukin believe the size of the thing. Anyhoo my vote for best Donairs is Annapoli in Cole Harbour, yum yum yum.

  8. Buddy of mine flew Hfx-Calgary a few years back… On the plane a few seats away, was another passenger, who in the spirit of those who get lobsters packed for air travel, had a grocery bag full of hot donairs as his carry-on luggage…Plane stunk like KOD at 4AM the whole flight out… Ah hahahaha…

  9. Oh yeah,,, some great things about Halifax… Some great music talent from here over the years… April Wine, Ritchie Oakley, Sarah McLaughlin to name a few… Plus with the proximity to Montreal & New York,,, you can’t beat it…
