Shoptalk has learned that succulent ribs and steaks will be the order of the day at the Starfish Properties-owned Morse Tea Building between Hollis and Upper Water Streets when Canadian chain Baton Rouge opens this spring. Baton Rouge is owned by the Moncton-based Imvestcor Restaurant Group. and the franchise owners are Maxime St. Pierre, Leo Salloum—owner of Tony’s Donair & Pizza at the corner of Robie and Cunard—and Shayan Safaei.

  1. Awesome!! Great chain of restaurants, can’t wait to have them in our midsts. To have Tony’s owner as co-owner is only icing on the proverbial cake as I love their Donairs!!! LOL

  2. I was tempted to go try them out until I looked at the nutritional information on their website. ONE THOUSAND, THREE HUNDRED and SIXTY calories in a KID’S MEAL!?! Are you insane? Absolutely repulsive. I could not find one even remotely healthy menu option.

  3. I ate at Baton Rouge on Saturday. I loved the building and the hype but not so the food. I had the Amorillo chicken that turned out to be bland with tasteless cheese melted on the top. My husbands steak was a little overcooked. My friends had the ribs and thought they were great. The meal was $100 for 2. It seems you can only depend on the ribs. There is better food to eat in NS,

  4. Just back from a disappointing meal at Baton Rouge, Halifax. Family of four, one had ceaser with chicken, with far too much soggy romaine. One had calamari and found it tasteless and doughy. One had ribs and fries, it earned an ok. I tried the special of the night, shrimp soup and monkfish for a main. the soup was like dishwater with shrimp that seemed reconstituted. The monkfish was not for me, not saying it was bad, just not one redeeming quality. The desserts however were very tastey, but overall this out of the frozen food box restaurant is far too over priced. Halifax has so many better options for similar pricing that will rock your tastebuds. i will not return.
