I’m saying this as tactful as I possibly can about annoying customers.

Today, I served this old lady (I’m a cashier), and she happened to be using a reusable Sobeys bag. There’s this rule here that we only use Superstore bags for customers to earn PC points, but there are a few exceptions like Sobeys bags (which is beyond me). Anyways, I forgot about that rule and I rang up the total for her order. She told me she wanted PC points (right after I asked her “Is that everything?” and before I hit the TOTAL button), but I told her that she had a Sobey’s bag, not a Superstore bag. After she told me it didn’t matter, I admitted that I rang in her total, therefore I couldn’t give her PC points. But no, even after I apologized, the old lady felt COMPELLED to tell customer’s service what I did wrong. Honestly, it was a MISTAKE, you prune! This is why I’m super-glad that the people at customer’s service are such awesome people and didn’t grumble at me about the incident. And for you people that wait for an entire minute and a half, or (Heaven forbid) 3 minutes, sorry, but when you’re new to a job and have technical difficulties with another customer’s order, you might just have to wait, and BE PATIENT. Obviously a few of you aren’t familiar with the word, so LOOK IT UP!! We’re told to be in our customer’s shoes and sympathize with their pathetic problems, but sometimes it’s absolutely ridiculous. Understand that SOME of us are new to our jobs, so please, just cut us some slack. Kapeesh?

I could be anywhere *cackle*

  1. So even though I buy crap from Superstore, I might not get the points depending on how I carry the stuff home??? That is the stupidest thing I’ve heard in a while. It shouldn’t matter if I used a box, a bag from a clothe store, or sewed up underwear (well, maybe the underwear); in all cases I give you (Superstore) money for goods, if I collect PC points I should get them since I bought stuff there.

  2. You admit that it was YOUR mistake and that YOU couldn’t fix it for her, so then shouldn’t you be the one directing her to customer service to fix it for her? instead of calling her an old prune? If you’re new to your job, you should learn from your mistake and make sure everyone gets their points…(some people are pretty anal about getting their points).

  3. I think the point was that she apologized for her error and the lady still went off at her. We’re all human and make mistakes.

  4. But apologizing without a solution doesn’t fix the fact that the woman didn’t get her points. It’s like she’s saying “I’m new, so if I make a mistake, just shut-up about it” I’m sorry doesn’t cut it when it comes to points that equal cash value. If someone is new, you can usually tell and cut them some slack, but if they give you the wrong change and then apologize should you then walk away??? I don’t think so!

  5. My favorite is when you’ve asked them for their Air Miles card during their order, but they don’t bother to respond. You then total off the order, and they pass you their fucking card, and blame YOU for them not getting their points.Oh, and then there are the customers who get pissed off because there is a 5 minute delay. I saw one woman the other day bitching hard when the man in front of her had to wait to get a price on an item. “This is ridiculous! I KNEW when I got in this line-up, there’d be a delay!” After exactly one minute, she snatched her shit off the belt, brought it over to the next cashier, and still kept going on. The kicker? Even though she was acting in a HUGE hurry, she had those stupid reusable bags, which take a good deal longer to pack (gee, no extra time THERE), plus she expected the cashier to lift the bags she insisted be packed to capacity into the cart. She was made fun of for a loooooong time after she left.

  6. I don’t know…if it were me, I would have accepted her apology and then went to the customer service desk to correct the issue (if I were that desperate for PC points, which I’m not). I wouldn’t have made it a point to complain about the mistake, just ask for it to be corrected. People are so mean spirited nowadays……

  7. I never shop at Stooperstore. Sobeys all the way baby, where a guy can get a plastic bag instead of paying extra to carry your shit. If I wanted to bring a box I would have gone to the whole sellers!
