You’d think that people would be nicer to the poor soul who has to clean up after them, after all I may use your toothbrush to scrub the toilet or put all your pubes on the bathroom floor in your bed.

But people who stay in hotels rarely tip.

I have to clean 14 rooms in 7 hours so if you steal shit off my cart that makes me have to stock more, and if you bitch to have your room cleaned when you go out, put up your fucking service sign. I don’t actually notice you’re gone you know. Also with you and 13 other people needing their room cleaned and just one me, with two hands, I can’t be everywhere at once and someone has to be last. So calm the fuck down and shut up. It will get done.

So the next time you decide to have your party in a hotel room and leave booze bottles and condoms all over the place, you should think of the person who has to clean up after you and how much harder they are working to make ends-meet than the pizza guy or the waiter you tip. I mean picking your toenails out of the carpet and scrubbing your shit off the toilet seat doesn’t make my day any better by a long stretch.

Also to those of you who look down on me because staying in a hotel makes you feel special, guess what? You’re not. Just because I have a crappy job, doesn’t mean you have the right to ignore me or yell at me or boss me around. You’re just another moron who thinks I have no brain or ambition, but you’re wrong.

Also people who check in and immediately jump into bed and start fucking like wild rabbits, don’t scream at me because you didn’t hear me knock. THAT’S WHAT PRIVACY SIGNS AND LOCKS ARE FOR DUMBFUCK!

If you trash the room and are a dirty pig, remember I know your name and you better fucking pray our paths never cross again one day because I would tell all your pals what a disgusting animal you are.

Also if check-in is at 3 and you show up at 11 and can’t figure out why the room that just became vacant half an hour ago hasn’t been cleaned yet, just fuck off. Sit down and shut up and be patient. Unless you want me to leave the dirty sheets on.

So just to sum up, tip your goddamn maid you fucking pricks, and give us a little respect for being able to smile at you after cleaning your snot off the shower walls.

  1. Yeah, i used to work for a hotel too, and i know that it can be pretty frustrating to have that one guest who complains about every little thing, as if they expected a red carpet rolled out for them on arrival. I know you’re venting, and with good reason. Those who make it harder for you to do your job well have probably never had to work for the hotel industry, and can’t see past thier own ignorance to even imagine how hard you work to finish those 14 rooms each day. Just keep in mind though, that same dipshit who’s yelling at you for something petty, is probably the same guy who will notice that you didn’t change his sheets.

  2. Agreed 100%. If a human serves you, expect them to be human. Also, humans like appreciation. That is all.

  3. I agree with poop and PDG, but tip the maid too?!? fuck that shit. I appreciate the crap you gotta put up with cleaning hotel rooms, I really do, but forget about a tip. Do your job, I’ll treat you with respect and say thank you if I see you. This tipping shit is waaaaayyyy out of control. Why can’t people just do their jobs for the wage they are offered? Why do I have to supplement the income of every person I interact with in a day? Why is giving money the only way to acknowledge the hard work someone has done for me?

  4. Hey “Miles From Home”-Go the fuck home. F U U F’in F. Do you shit where you eat? No.Only idiots F with the people who can F with what you sleep on, put in your mouth,…call clean & healthy. If I leave 2x your hourly wage “from Bartender”; it’s me. 2X your hourly wage-good tip.

  5. Ummm Miles? What’s with that bartender guy? I don’ think he likes you very much, but I’m not sure. He doesn’t really make sense.

  6. Bartender, who said I fuck with the people who work hard to make my hotel stay more enjoyable? I just don’t think one should be paying protection money to the service industry so they don’t mess with you for not giving them money for doing their job. I think you can show respect and gratitude by being respectful and gracious and I don’t agree with having to bribe a person into treating you decently. I’m not anti-tipping, I just think it is not appropriate for some jobs and it bugs me when people expect it and think it is reasonable to not do their job when someone skimps.

  7. While I agree that the tipping thing is getting a little over the top, I think that anyone who has to scrub human feces off the toilet seat probably deserves a tip MORE than the coffee slingers do.Ick.

  8. in terms of money and respect, those who do the REAL work, the grunge, blood, sweat and tears, usually get paid the least… while greedy elitists sit in their ivory towers, getting richer. it’s unfair and a sad fact of life.

  9. Another sad reality is that much of the REAL work wouldn’t get done at all, or wouldn’t even exist, if it weren’t for the direction of those “greedy elitists.” Pay is about scope, not elbow grease, and scope is something that the grunge, blood, sweat and tears crew don’t or can’t see and understand. It’s an age old dichotomy and it will never change.
