Clean them after you use a dryer. It is easy. I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you were never taught. It is not that hard at all.

1) Lift and remove the lint trap after the drying cycle is complete. (careful not to inhale too much dust!)

2) With your fingers, take one corner or piece of lint that was accumulated.

3) Use this peice to gather the lint from the rest of the tray. It is like a snowball effect. The more you move it around the more you collect. It really is a spectacular thing.

4) Put the empty lint tray back into the dryer.

5) Find a garbage receptacle in with to dispose of the lint.

I am sooooo sick and tired of doing it after people when I want to dry my clothes! Grow up!

  1. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with cleaning it as you use it, then leaving it when you’re finished. That way everybody’s on the same page, and nobody has to double-clean.

  2. yeah, I just always assume I need to clean it before i use the dryer. then, the person after me will clean it before they use it. it’s like a linty laundry circle of life.

  3. I hate it more when the removal handle on some models of trays is broken. Its damn near impossible to get them out without one.

  4. I used to pretend it was bellybutton lint from a giant. Giants have rectangular outdoor-fresh-smelling belly buttons by the way.

  5. Interesting. Is it kinda satisfying like peeling off old sunburn-skin? Really satisfying like popping bubble-packs? Or reallllly satisfying but kinda wince-inducing and grody, like picking scabs?

  6. I was gonna say popping white-heads but I though I’d better not. that would be too much.Oops I just did.

  7. I always thought that if you you took that dryer lint and weaved it together into a yarn and make a fine lopi sweater…

  8. I actually keep some in ziploc bags for when I go camping; it is great for starting campfires without dirty ole fuel.

  9. When I was a kid,,, I used to do this magic act… Nothing too professional mind you… just weddings, bar mitzvahs, that kind of thing…Anywho,,, my final trick,,, the show stopper so to speak,,, was I would shove a bunch of dryer lint up my ass,,, then magically pull a knotted multicolored scarf from my nose… It was just an illusion of course, but for all the years I did that trick in its many variations, I found that the dryer lint really worked the best of all… No contest..

  10. Clean after. It’s “my” mess, therefore I’m responsible for it. I think it’s self-centred to clean it only for my own benefit. That’s basically saying “screw the next guy”.”Do unto others” and all that, you know…?

  11. I agree, Jammie….I don’t want to touch your hairy lint and I assume you don’t want to touch mine….yuck!

  12. This is what I mean. Say you use a toilet. Do you wait for the next person to flush? It is about cleaning up after yourself. There are some nasty things that I have had to handle in lint traps!

  13. I have no idea what sort of lint traps you guys are handling…the one in my building is alway sjust almost like a sheet of felt- touch one corner, pull it off, and you’re done, no biggie. Now if I KNOW something icky went in the dryer (odd considering whatever’s going in there has ALREADY been in the washing machine and is therefore clean), or more likely if I knew I put something in there that’s particularly linty, I’ll clean it after as well….

  14. Many of my neighbors’ lint contained a lot of cat hair. Yuck.Mine would include a lot of chest hair. Probably equally yuck for most people. You also get the little clumps of kleenex, etc., which, while obviously sanitized, are just gross.

  15. here’s the deal….if I get there and the lint trap has sh*t in it from the f*cker who used it before….then I will clean it out….I will not do it twice….once for the pr*ck before me and once for myself….that is the attitude that I have adopted

  16. That scarf surely picked up some interesting colors on it’s way up.Lemmiwinks and the Frog King would be impressed.

  17. There’s one for every occasion! Things in your butt? Welllll, we got alien probes, we got gerbils and frogs, we got a turkey, we got our own heads, hmmmmmm what else?

  18. We got Paris Hilton…we got blood coming out of artificial butts…we got people with butts for faces…I’ll be back after I remember more later…
