I am tired of going into Tim Hortons, Walmart, Sobeys, etc and feeling like crap when I leave. I buy my stuff and give them my money, when the transaction is completed, I say Thank You. 9 times out of ten, the person at the counter either says nothing or says “Yup”.

My money is what is helping you get you 54 inch waist, you can atleast be kind when you are taking my money.

However, there is a girl that usually works in the speedy checkout (1-10 items) in the Superstore on Young street who is always friendly. I would rather go there ten times with 10 times or less, rather than get some moron who cant speak in sentences. To this particular checkout woman, Thanks. Always a pleasure going through your isle.

To the rest of you, get a job out of the public eye

Yup

  1. Are you talking about the squeeky girl that works there? I have changed lanes and waited longer just to not get in her aisle… seriously, her voice makes me want to die. Everytime I hear it, I die a little bit on the inside.

  2. I understand what you mean, except, I used to work at that particular Superstore as a cashier and unlike a lot of cashiers, I am very polite. It’s the other way around for me in fact, a lot of customers treat me like shit. They don’t look me in the eyes, don’t even say “hi”, sometimes they don’t say anything to me… at all. I feel like smashing their damn groceries on the ground, I get treated like some abnormal outcast who is some dumb piece of shit. News flash people, it would be nice if you could at least say something to me, a simple “Thank you!” maybe.. yeah, that would be very nice. I pack your million pounds of fatty, unhealthy groceries and you can’t even mutter a “thank you”.. thanks a lot you morons, thanks for ruining my weeknights. (Haha, but thank you to the NICE, CHEERFUL customers who enjoy talking and being courteous! : ), it’s a pleasure to help you.)

  3. Just so you know, when you pay at Tim’s, Superstore, Walmart, the cashier isn’t getting your hard earned cash, the corporation is. Yes, I realize that a store needs customers in order to function, but I used to work as a cashier, and it can be very monotonous and many people are very rude to you and expect you to lick their ass. Keep in mind that these employees are usually not paid well, get minimal benefits, zero bonuses and are under appreciated by many. I always made an effort to be nice when I was a cashier, but it can put you in ‘zombie mode’ after many hours of doing it, and it can be hard on the head. It’s not always personal when the cashier isn’t super cheerful for you, sometimes the job is just soul crushing. I always advise people to try doing the job for a year before judging the persons doing said job. Just my two cents.
