What is it with Halifax men? It seems like none of you want a committed relationship these days.. you want to just be “friends only”.. one of these days you’re going to wake up alone and realize that not every girl is willing to sleep with someone who just wants to be their friend. It’s certainly not going to be me!

  1. I can’t blame most men, to be honest. Do you think the only goal in life is having a ‘committed relationship’? For most men, that means a mortgage, kids, responsibilities they might not want to have and IF they divorce, they know they’re going to get the wrong end of the financial stick. Good for them for staying single before they’re ready to do all that shit. You’d better get used to entertaining yourself, sweetheart, because having a partner is no guarantee you will be happy or fulfilled.

  2. I can’t believe this is a bitch…absolutely pathetic. Move it on over to the personals or tell it to your therapist. You’re not going to find a man on this board, so pull up the hooker boots and hike it down to the Palace, Dome, or wherever it is you go, but please don’t pity yourself on this column. It’s really desperate and annoying.

  3. I agree with TTFN and Poop, but at the same time, go easy on the bitcher guys, because I think there’s something like 1 single guy for every 8 single girls in Halifax! So it’s probably not the best place for a single girl to be, unless you’re a great flirt and really socially active. Plus, is it just me or does anyone else notice that on average, Halifax women seem to be better looking than Halifax men? Why not try internet dating? My friend who’s single in Halifax does it and has a blast. Or there’s always Alaska, I hear there’s tons of young single guys and a massive shortage of women there! Good luck!

  4. You find partners when you’re NOT looking. Don’t be so desperate, OP, and cancel that subscription to ‘Bride’ magazine. I’m damn happy not to have to clean up someone else’s shit and be told when I should come home and who I should be hanging with. ENJOY YOUR FREEDOM!!!!

  5. By the way, I’m just kidding about Halifax guys not being as good looking as Halifax women. There just arent as many I guess. Most of my single life was spent in Halifax though, and I have some great memories!

  6. I agree with TTFN, even to take it a little furthre by saying if you hooked the guy into marriage there is no gaurantee that you will be happy or fullfilled. Women just need to choose what type of partner they want and sometimes we get lucky (no pun intended) sometimes we don’t that is the name of the game.

  7. NMH, you might be right about the women in halifax. However it’s hard to comment on the attractiveness of haligonian chicks because they have to spend so much damn time bundled up against the elements. By the time the parkas come off i’m ready to pounce on any piece of pale skin that peeks out at me. I don’t count the crazy birds that run around all winter in their fuck-me boots and skimpy skirts however…dumb isn’t sexy.

  8. Ohh, I agree… Halifax is such an unequal playing field for men and women. Men definitely have the ratio advantage and seem to not have to put in any effort. When I moved, things drastically improved: guys would offer to buy me drinks pretty regularly (which happened once in Halifax), talk to me in the book store or movie theater and actually make some effort. Guys in Halifax just stand back and wait for women to approach them because they can afford to do it… especially when women put on hooker boots and skimpy skirts just to please them. There are also way too many big fish in a small pond minded people in Halifax. So you worked on a film or are in a band…get over yourself! It does not mean you are entitled to sex and you are still just a 5/10. Dating in Halifax is a fucking nightmare. I don’t think its a bad thing that the OP just wants to meet someone and have a relationship. Why do people tell her to get used to entertaining herself or that she’s desperate to get married? Since when does being sick of singledom imply that someone is undimensional and desperate? Maybe she’d just like someone to cuddle at night for a change rather than a 1 night screw. Good luck finding a nice guy!

  9. I think there are just too many narrow-minded guys out there who are too afraid to take a chance on a nice girl…..and with the problem of growing obesity in the world today, most men want their woman to be slim, trim, beautiful and have big tits. If you’re a chunkier gal, guess you’re shit-outta-luck, and have to get used to being single.

  10. Tell me about it! Along the same thought, what the hell is up with Halifax men? It seems like none of you want a committed relationship these days.. you want to just be “friends only”.. one of these days you’re going to wake up alone and realize that not every guy is willing to sleep with someone who just wants to be their friend. It’s certainly not going to be me!

  11. Oh, oops(ha ha), sorry… What is it with Halifax women? It seems like none of you want a committed relationship these days.. you want to just be “friends only”.. one of these days you’re going to wake up alone and realize that not every guy is willing to sleep with someone who just wants to be their friend. 12. Guys are in a city full of pussy, why the fuck would they settle down? Hell just date university girls, break up after 4 years when she moves away and move on to the next one.Rince and repeat until 30!

  13. I’m guessing you’re probably a pretty young guy from the tone of your message, Trevor. Sure, it’s great you want to be free and have fun, there’s no harm in that as long as you’re honest and treat people well along the way. But referring to women as ‘pussy’?? Your message gives the impression you dont see women as anything more than objects, like a car to drive or a bigmac to scarf down. There is one good reason why people settle down y’ know; it’s called ‘falling in love,’ and it does happens sometimes! It probably will to you someday eventually. I just hope that when it does, your girlfriend sees you more than just some piece-o’-cock university dude existing to tie her over until something better comes along.

  15. One guy for every eight single girls? You’d think I’d have found a girlfriend by now. Just one of the reasons I gave up on women in Halifax.Being kicked in the nuts for saying Hi to a girl I just met was the other.

  16. One guy for every eight girls? Really? Experience tells me that’s not true. I know there are plenty of Men out there that want a committed relationship but probably not too many Boys that want a committed relationship. Curious if the OP knows the difference between the two?

  17. I know this is a really old post, but I’m bored at work, and all out of fresh bitches to check ;)”By the time the parkas come off i’m ready to pounce on any piece of pale skin that peeks out at me” hahahahahaha.. That made me laugh out loud.. My co-worker looked at me like I had two heads.. LOL…And Cranky, I think I love you too.. *wink wink*
