I remember now why I bailed on the local rock station. My painful reminder came today when I changed over to the former self proclaimed “Rock of the Atlantic”. To enjoy a few afternoon tunes at work. Sadly, I can not access internet radio here.
I understand the popularity of Classic Rock but for the love of skynard change up the play list once a decade.
Does anybody need to hear Cuts Like a Knife ever again? For the record I like The Stones, Zeppelin, AC/DC etc. but am tired of hearing the same songs over and over and over again. These bands have more than 5 songs apiece but you would never know it listening to the radio in Halifax.
It’s tired, boring and predictable. Sure, the talk radio alternative gets stale but at least it hasn’t eroded my last nerve … like a Bob Seger song.

Boy, am I with you on this one. Same old boring shit played ad nausem. The only thing worth listening to is the Rant Line. They should rename the station Q-One-Oh-Bore.
Geeze, I just recycled your heading with my last sentence. Is my face magenta.
After about 25 years of loyal support for the Q, I turned the dial for good a month ago. What really did it for me was the endless repitition of gag songs by those pubnico fishermen etc. I left a rant suggesting less of that, and more real music. Their response? More of that… I’ve got it on the Hal-FM 89.9 now and the classic rock is a lot more varied. Some great tunes I haven’t heard for years. Very refreshing.
The Pubnico F-Men were kinda cute the first time around but wore thin very quickly. I also can’t understand their love of David Letterman’s Top Ten List. Letterman might have been funny in his hey-day but now he’s just pathetic. I’m gonna take your suggestion, Civic, and turn my dial to the left.
Lisa Blackburn is the WORST!!!!!!!
“for the love of skynard” …. now that’s classic! I agree, the once mighty Q is lame, lame, lame.
Q104 has become tragic. The morning crew are are about as funny as being told you’ve got a week to live. The playlist is as predictable as the changing tide, if you randomly turn on Q104 there is an almost 100% chance of hearing Hotel California, Don’t Look Back or Stairway……it’s like fucking ground hog day…the same thing over and over and over and over….Thankfully I have been saved by an IPOD!!
Maybe they should replace Lisa with the unemployed ‘Sexy Girl’ and revamp the Top Ten List to ‘Top Ten Uses for a Triple Headed Vibrator’.
I’ve been using Yahoo Radio at work now for almost a year. You tell it what songs/bands/genres you like, and which you don’t, and it varies things up all the time. You can skip anything you don’t want to hear, and even after all this time it is still coming up with new bands for me that I love.
Accuradio is pretty good, great selection of the different genres, even provides a block feature so you don’t have to listen to Mariah Carey squeal like a stuck pig.
