As for filing, I don’t see what a big deal that would be — if I chip a nail I’ll file it down on the spot regardless of where I am because I can’t stand rough nails.
Also: pretty sure the drivers don’t clean the busses — don’t they have maint. ppl that do that?
this is gross. I don’t understand how some people can’t see why this would be disturbing to others. On the bus, at work, whevever, this type of thing is meant to be done privately and in your own home. Its just not hygenic. I mean, I once saw a guy clip his nails in the university computer lab. Toe nails are one thing but finger nails? Filing your nails? Unsanitary? Maybe so, but that keyboard you use at work, or that doorknob you touch 50 times a day to get in and out of wherever is probably just as unsanitary.

Personal grooming belongs at home in the privacy of the bathroom or bedroom. No exceptions! Toe-jammy toenails or filthy fingernails, it’s all the same. NOBODY wants to witness clipping (visual or audio) (gag, urge, retch) or be wounded by nail shrapnel from others. But if you’re interested in showing everyone your lack of class and social skills, nail grooming in public, especially on crowded buses where diving for cover is trickier for your fellow riders, is the sure way to announce that you are an idiot.

in my years of riding the ttc i have seen people floss their teeth, get dressed, eat, put make-up on, fornicate, sleep, puke, drink, bleed, jump in front of trains but i never saw anyone clip their toenails^^
pain-sis: in all my years on the TTC I have witnessed much of the same, and yet I never felt the need to actually perform any of these acts publicly myself, there being a time and place for everything.
You have scared me so much I will avoid public transit systems as much as I can.
my goal on the subway was to avoid getting my backpack caught in the doors, when i did fellow riders would yank me through…i returned the favour when it happened to someone else…don’t ignore the whistles
