To the person who was sitting beside me on the bus, I caught on to your creepy little game. When someone “dings” the bell indicating they would like to get off at the next stop, most people would move when the person beside them would like to get off, but oh no, not you. You just sat there so I had to practically drag my ass over you, and I know you enjoyed it as indicated by the sly looks and snickers you gave your friend followed up by you converting in one of the many foreign languages that have invaded this city. What I’m trying to get at is you and all others like you are perverts. I like many others don’t wake up every morning wondering “ooh, who am I going to be man-handled by today?” So it would be greatly appreciated if you would keep your sick games and actions to yourself.

I agree with Leo and Ellbee- What is your problem with foreign languages? In case you haven’t noticed, you can’t tell an asshole by the language he speaks. What bothered you more- his language or his behavior? I’m guessing his language and that you probably wouldn’t have been so mad if he weren’t “foreign”.The only thing here that’s offensive is you!
Let me start by saying that I have met a lot of Canadian born men who are total pigs (as has Ellbee too aparaently). The only point I would like to raise is that there are some cultures in the world where women do not enjoy the same status they do here in Canada. So when people come to Canada and bring their cultural values with them, sometimes there are incompatabilities. And in some cultures, women are not respected outside of their traditional roles. I think it is important to be aware of these cultural differences and try to make it clear to the new members of our society that sexist behavior just is not gonna fly. But at the same time it is absolutely imperative that we don’t adopt an “us versus them” attitude and make blanket statements, like the posters “you and all others like you”. What might be acceptable behaviour elsewhere is not going to be OK here in Canada. Be understanding, but don’t take any shit. And don’t let a few bad apples spoil the bunch, because we need immigration.

Every culture has sexist men- Just be careful to not buy into what the media would like us to believe. Lots of people don’t get up from their bus seat to let the person on the inside get out easily. its rude and infuriating but it in no way suggests that this guy was being leery or sexist. I imagine the poster was pretty well equipped with her own preconceived notions of this guy when he sat down. Rather than be an adult and ask him to move, she played into exactly what she thought he was trying to do and walked away feeling all victimized. If you don’t like it, say something!
