Council needs to commit a several million dollar annual budget to build youth centres in neighbourhoods across the cities that are staffed qualified individuals to engage the youth. A Mentorship Program. A summer long intramural program. Provide free transportation & lunches… cooking classes, art classes. We have all these facilities closed for the Summer and tonnes of people looking for work.
Find the resources. Make it happen. Show our youth they are important. They matter. They are worth more to us as contributing members of society. Let’s show them we care… and that they matter … then maybe we can start to get some of this bullshit under control.
When our city merged… a lot of programs, mainly the one I’m thinking of, Dartmouth Parks & Rec were turned into fancy Garbage Collectors.
Let’s spend some money… turn back the clock… and get on this.

Something tells me that when a group of genetically denuded malcontents are getting off on slamming their $300 sneakers into the head and kidneys of someone curled up into a fetal position on the ground, they have a really good idea of just how “important” they are.
Instead of building youth centres and playgrounds to be vandalized and hiring mentors, counselors and caring nurturers to be robbed, raped and assaulted we could just pay the money directly to the thugs and lowlifes and ask them very nicely to stop being such cunts. That , after all, seems to be the principle behind foreign aid and look at what a success that’s been.
I’ll repeat myself, it’s no longer a matter of reclamation or even prevention; simply one of damage control.

youth centers solve and help nothing. they just give these punks a place to hide when cops are chasing them, if that ever happens. the only centers that will help keep these little pieces of shit off the streets, are correction centers. but why stop there, why not bring in cociane houses, or dens or what the fuck ever. you idiots that think that keeping these kids and punks in a nice little play house helps, need your collective heads examined bigtime. what about the victems of these punks, do they get a nice new center to go to? the only way to get the problem solved, is to use absolute lethal force on them.

youth centers won’t do shit, I personally have no good ideas to prevent youth crime.
Sending them to jail will just make them stronger, smarter, and more violent criminals.
Give them physically demanding jobs/tasks that are extremely rewarding and fulfilling? They get tired from the work and feel very good about themselves at the same time. Isn’t that what some of us did when we were kids? I had to help my parents plant vegetables in our small garden, or shovel snow during the winter time.
Anybody who thinks throwing money at a problem doesn’t solve anything should check out the art project on display by the L.O.V.E. group (at the end of the month I think) down at Pier 21. But then again, its always easier to just call it a lefty bleeding heart money waster without actually giving it a thought/look, eh?
