Hilarious but true! Nothing bugs me more than when I am picking up Molly’s (our Golden Retriever) poop than to see some jackass down the street trying to be all sneaky about not picking up their dogs poop. I have a digital camera on me so I can take pictures of people breaking laws and by-laws…great evidence for when the by-law officer shows up and the person tries to deny they did anything wrong. I will be using it to film cell phone talkerdrivers when that by-law comes into full effect! People can’t seem to make the connection between lawsby-laws and courtesy of others and more importantly PUBLIC SAFETY. No people…the cops and commissionaires and by-law enforcement are not “out to get you” they are merely enforcing laws etc that are there to make sure you are not only courteous of the shared environment but that you compose yourself in a safe manner for everyone.

And I hope you’re about 250lbs, cause if you tried to take a pic of me doin anything, I’d shove your high tech phone/blueberry/blachtooth/ipod whatever, right down your throat.Not really…but lots of people would) Are you trying to get yourself killed? I totally agree with Lori. Christopher, if you’re walking around with a digital camera for the purpose of catching people people who dont pick up their dog poo, then I think you really need to get a life.
I do agree that dog owners need to be more responsible about picking up their dog’s junk. It’s not like you couldn’t see it in the snow….snow is white – dog waste is not.And sure you may have ran out of a bag or two because you didn’t think Fido was going to do it again…..be brave – ask a stranger for a spare bag – they usually don’t mind – since they won’t be stepping in it if they help you get a bag.
And Christopher – yes you’re a bit of a loser. If you constantly catch the same person not picking up after their dog – then yes you can take pictures and call Animal Services – mind you the phone number you dial (the HRM hot line) – has a bunch of people working there that may or may not know what to do….or how to properly direct your call.
I would like to see any rude-ass losers try and “shove my camera down my throat” I am not conspicuous about it and I don’t carry it around solely to catch poop offenders. I carry it because most people have been in a situation where they have witnessed some atrocious act of either unsafe and wreck-less behavior or other upsetting and illegal activity either on foot or on the road and thought, “dammit I wish I had the chance to stop that” well the camera provides that chance. It’s a shame that Halifax is full of head in the sand “I’d rather not get involved” individuals. I am 165 pounds and quite able to fend off any idiot that thinks they are going to stop me from doing my civic duty which is to report any illegal activity I witness (I can also run quite fast when required), I guess you have all forgotten that things only start getting better when you stand up and make an effort to make it better. I guess it’s just easier to bitch on here and not get your hands dirty and think at the end of the day that you actually made a difference by crying about something anonymously. Check all my postings here, not one of them will suggest to not do something about what you are complaining about, I guess it’s just my nature to confront head on the problems that bother me, sure I bitch about them just the same on here as all of you but the difference is…I am not afraid to actually take any kind of action that helps change it.Wouldn’t YOU want someone to come to YOUR aid when YOU get jacked on the commons or have a witness that actually stays and provides a detailed account of what happened with pictures to back it up?!?!?!?!I do appreciate the comments regarding my safety and you are right, it is risky and potentially dangerous, but I am willing to take a punch for my fellow citizen, even the ones that think they are so high up on the pedestal to call me a bit of a loser and I need a life. Glad to see you’re so constantly aware of your civic duty that you feel the need to carry a camera around everwhere you go to catch people in the midst of committing a crime, such as I did the other day when I discovered the 3rd bag I’d brought along to scoop my dog’s poop had a large tear in the bottom of it. Just last week Molly (my golden retriever) had a nasty almost water poop after eating her collar of all things (she really tries to eat anything not nailed down if you don’t watch her…) I actually went home and got a tupperware full of water to wash away the nasty. Now this was on my block (other side of it) so it was pretty close and I wouldn’t expect someone to drive home from a park and do that but seriously…if you want to own a dog in the city, there are some crappy things that you have to commit to. Stop crying about it and just fucking do it.
