this bitch is stupid and I can clear it up, I know of a volunteer group who takes care of the homeless cats in the park, they feed the cats and have carriers with towels for them to sleep in. They have hidden areas within the park for the cats which have towels and old blankets and food and water, twice a day they go down to feed the cats check on them ect
I am one of those volunteers – Breakwater Cat Rescue League – and that carrier (it’s blue) is one of the many little things/spots/areas that are there for the cats that we take care of. The vast majority of “accommodations” we have, you cannot see and are not aware of. I made this little video as a tribute.

At least cats are an animal that goes feral fairly readily and it’ll be able to survive on its own.

Mr Self-Righteous OP got learned. I never feel bad for homeless cats (NOT kittens); all cats are cold blooded killers through and through and can do just fine thank you sans humans.
I have a beautiful 13 year old cat and wouldnt dream of abandoning him.

I am very glad this was cleared up for us all.
My Mom works extremely hard (in her retirement I might add…) to take in cats, both abandoned, potentially abandoned and feral, and keeps them while trying to find homes for them. We had a horse years ago but then we sold it (it was a mean ol’ thing….) the barn became a place of storage for yard equipment/furniture and other things. A couple of years ago Mom redid some of it to house the cats that she takes in. Right now she has 14…. most in the barn but every now and then she’ll attach herself to one so much that it “graduates” to the house where it lives the rest of its days. Rain/shine/snow…. whatever- she is up there spending time with them, feeding them, taking care of the sick and injured… She even raises $$ by taking back every bottle people donate to her, or she simply finds on the side of the road, to be able to feed them and when applicable, spay/neuter them. She hires someone to come in and take over when she goes away. Moral of the story is…. I, more than most, appreciate our lovely feline friends having grown up with countless my entire life, and now seeing what dedication my Mom puts in to making sure those she can help get the treatment and lives they deserve. Hearing about cats being mistreated and abandoned sickens me and causes me to wish nothing but ill will toward those that disregard their health and safety.
Nothing but kudos on my behalf to the Breakwater Cat Rescue League. Is there anywhere I can get more information on this absolutely worthwhile society?

I have been volunteering with them for 4 years. Once the matriarch died, our job isn’t what it used to be. We were constantly rescuing her kittens before they became feral cats. The boys that live there now have always been there and are very, very well taken care of.
Yes, people do abandon cats in the park, probably because they know we will take care of them. Formerly domesticated cats Do Not do fine on their own. They haven’t learned how to fend for themselves and usually end up dead. I have a mini shelter of my own behind my house and 4 abandoned strays have found their way there. I found homes for all of them. People move and leave their cats behind All of the Time. Or because they didn’t get them spayed/neutered, they don’t want them once they go in heat or start spraying in the home.
Two feral cats consider my shelter “home”. I’ve been taking care of them for 5 years and I’ve had them both neutered and they would most likely no longer be alive if it weren’t for the shelter. There is always food and water there, and when I see them, I give them wet food too.
The OP was not aware of us, and without knowing the circumstances, I too would be outraged and bitching here too. But now you know, and it’s good news.
There are a few posters permanently placed on a pole in the park close to the entrance. There you will find out everything about us. Nothing that I haven’t already said here though. 🙂
There is no longer a website for our League now. Just my small video. We are a small group of people (6 or so) and we manage quite well. We help out the man at the dockyards too. Now he is someone to admire!
