People who say fuck the police are ignorant douchebags. I’m not saying all cops are good, but without them we’d be worst off then where we are now.
Viego, five years ago I used to say the same thing to my anti-establishment youth peers. However, I have seen about 5 or 6 people I knew get accepted into the HRP who I would not even trust to babysit my little sister. I’ve seen one stumbling around the Dome flashing his badge at girls, using it as a pickup tool. I knew one who couldnt WAIT to finally be accepted and settled in so he could start using coke again. i know one who has a repeated history of being sexually violent with a number of girls i went to school with. and yet another, who used to brag that he was one of the kids who used to beat people with hockey sticks and golf clubs on the commons at night. i think i know ONE solid, upstanding citizen who has been hired in the past few years. I grew up in a neighborhood where a lot of cops lived and they were fair, honest family men. i always trusted the police, but not anymore. I have a friend who is training to be a cadet right now who laughs about how he’s gonna take half of any marijuana he seizes and “any cop who turns in ALL the money they find is an idiot”. I am now terrified of the police. If i were robbed or raped or beaten, god forbid, I’d rather just call my mom than have one of those people in my house.
Police corruption is as old as police forces. A small percentage ruins it for the rest of the force. The alternative is anarchy, and I’m not really into that myself. Your mileage may vary.
While Cindy you raise some very good points; I think we should all be thankful our police are nowhere as near as bad as in countries like Russia or China. People really don’t realize how good we have it here, and when they say something like “Fuck the Police” it just goes to show how much of a weak person they are.
I like the people who say Fuck the Police because although they hate them now, who do you suppose they will call when they need help? I’ve had bad experiences with some power hungry officers and even made some 911 calls that went unanswered but I will still dial up the good old hrp when shit goes down and I need someone to intervene.

I just wish they wouldn’t go to work-related events with police department vans and then get into fights. Really, cops need to remember that they have to uphold a certain standard when they are out and about while off duty. Getting into fights with civilians is not an option. Can they at least recruit people who understand that not acting like an asshole when off duty is part of their job?
