Wow, the super sounds like good people. It’s hard to believe that some people find it acceptable to behave this way, and live by standards such as these..it’s pretty disgraceful.I live in a fairly new building, (going on 2 years new this spring) located in the North End of Halifax. Not as close to the Universities as Downtown is, but it’s still a convenient location. The building is quiet, and all units include dishwashers. Laundry room is shared, but there are only 16 units in the building, so there are rarely problems with waiting. Most of the tennants are between the ages 20-35, with the exception of one senior couple. I think 2 bdrm units are about $12-$1300/m.If you’re interested in inquiring with the landlord, let me know and i’ll find you a phone number for the rental office.Good luck!
12-1300/month with a shared laundry room? Pleeease.It’s not so much about the “waiting” it’s the fact that for 1300 a month you shouldn’t have to pay MORE money to do your laundry. I pay 1050 for a three bedroom with 5 appliances in a new building in a great area, so OP can do A LOT better than 1300 with no w/d. No offense, poop, but….YOU could probably do better too.
Oh, what a surprise. Pretty Kitty commented on a thread.I see where you’re coming from, PK, and i think it’s great that you’ve got a built in w/d. You’re right, i could ‘do better’, i suppose. I could easily afford to pay more for better accomodations, or i could even move into another, cheaper building with my very own washer and dryer. The point is, (and not that i asked for your opinion on this), that i really like the building i rent from. It’s quiet, the other tennants are great, and it’s in a really great location. I don’t mind walking down the hall to do a wash. Call me crazy, but I don’t even mind paying a whole $2, either. The op asked if anyone knew of a vacancy in a building where he/she wouldn’t be discriminated against, and i offered one. So far, all you’ve done is make another useless comment. Go figure.
Hmm. While it is discriminatory, landlords and supers do reserve the right to reject an application, and they can give you the real reason, or they can lie to you. This is unfortunate, but you have irresponsible past tenants to thank for that. It’s hard to prove you’ll be a responsible tenant when most cosigners on leases end up in small claims court. I would suggest putting an ad on Kijiji and letting renters find you, maybe a sublet would be the way to go if you could find that kind of arrangement. Also, there’s a sign on the corner of Seaforth and Dublin, green place, 1 bdrm. + den, close to Quinpool and bus stops, cheaper than you’re willing to pay, but you’d have to drive or walk by to get the number.
