If I am riding in the middle of a lane on my bicycle it is because I don’t want you to pass close to my bicycle on a particularly dangerous road section or windy day. Please don’t ride the yellow line. If you motorists don’t like being slowed down, join cyclists in advocacy for bike lanes in Halifax.

I hate to point this out because in principle I totally support the fight to have actual bikes lanes brought to Halifax…but you have to understand you are operating your bike according to the Motor Vehicle Act of Nova Scotia and that means if you cannot proceed at a reasonable rate of speed you have to yield to traffic that can. riding out in the lane that is meant for traffic that can move faster than 25 Kmh will only hurt your case. Instead of being courteous and yielding as the rules say…you are acting inconsiderately and asking for consideration…doesn’t that sound counter-productive? I understand the worry of being passed…it can be terrifying, especially with some of the more aggressive and down-right crazy motorists out there but by driving out there in the middle and holding up the aggressive drivers…you are only fueling their road-rage. They then proceed to take it out on every single cyclist out there…yes again, I know it doesn’t make sense…but do you think a road-rager is going to think logically? It’s the reason they rage…because they are not thinking logically and not realizing that they will still get home in time for (INSERT BORING SITCOM HERE) but they won’t be able to beat the wife BEFORE the show.
It is amazing how this bitch went from bike riding to abuse in a mere few seconds.If you are unable to keep up with the traffic, then move over to the side. That is the logical and safe choice. Riding the center line will get you hurt, road rage or not.Christopher, smarten the fuck up. Not everyone with road rage is a wife beater. Talk about generalization.
Oh come on Leafs fan…that was clearly in there for humor, you know..something funny. Yes I know your response will be “but spousal abuse is not funny!” and my reply would be REAL spousal abuse is not funny, but it is when using it as a disparaging comment towards a group that really DOESN’T NEED DEFENDING…unless of course Leafs Fan you are one of those road ragers. And how would you know if they aren’t all wife beaters…do you all belong to some secret club where you all sit around and discuss why you don’t beat your wives?
Christopher, I know from numerous comments you’ve made on various threads that you are sympathetic to the issues that cyclists face, and I appreciate that. But I want you to understand that there are times when the only safe place for a cyclist is in the middle of the lane. The MVA recognizes this. I reviewed the Act today, just to be sure I’m not speaking out of turn. Hogging a lane when it’s not necessary is stupid and can only lead to more animosity. But there are times when it is absolutely necessary to take the lane.
Christopher, leave the comedy for people that are actually funny. What’s next on your agenda … defending racial jokes? You’re a douche.
