To the bitch who came in a couple weeks ago to the Ardmore tea room and treated me like shit. I fucked up her order. Yeah, I’m new! Have you ever been a waitress? Do you know how stressful that job is? Well this women sure didn’t. She reduced me to tears and I retreated into the bathroom. Even had the guts to ask for more water because she left without tipped and asking “How bad could you mess up an order?” Well fuck you m’am. Fuck you. I hope you choke the next time I serve you, on our fucking awesome food.

I just want to step in before some fool goes off on an irrelevant rant about tipping and makes this poor kid feel worse.Honey, I waitressed my way through university. I know it’s a stressful job. Some people think it’s soooo easy. Those people have never done it. You WILL fuck up occasionally, and not just when you’re new. Some people will be nice about it. Some people will be writhing, squealing assholes about it. One guy went absolutely apeshit on me because I brought CHICKEN fried rice, when he had requested BEEF fried rice. When he was finished tearing me an new excretory orifice, I very politely and sincerely said, “I’m sorry sir. I didn’t mean to ruin your life!”I didn’t get a tip, and I didn’t expect one. The look on his face was better than any tip. So chin up, girl. Your skin will thicken up soon enough. It’s not personal, because frankly, people like that don’t see you as a person. Assholes are like that.
Anyone who is surprised at receiving shitty service in Halifax is very new to town.
Honestly I don’t know how waiters and waitresses can stand their jobs. I’ve seen people come into restaurants just itching for a squabble so they can get a freebe or a discount. Forget about a tip completely unless you’re eternally grateful for .25 cents on a $40.00 meal. I’ve only run into a waiter with a problem once in 4 yrs. in Hfx. and we eat out at least twice a week. He later apologized saying he’s had a rough shift. I know a lot of you have no choice because job opps are so plentiful in this city NOT! I would never treat an honest, hard working person with disrespect. If it’s any constellation, I’m sure the people who do treat service people poorly are uneasy in their own skin.
constellation? (gazes towards the heavens)… or consolation?? LOL! Sorry, I couldn’t resist…my bad!Back to your regularly scheduled bitch….
LOL thanks Molly. That’s always been a tricky one for me yet I keep making the same mistake. Now that you’ve been kind enough to put it in writing …. 🙂
Thanks a lot guys, this made me feel better. my skin is slowly getting thicker thanks to this job. and I still love it. Most people are so sweet its fantastic, its just always the odd person who can just ruin your DAY!
You’re welcome Jessi and good luck. My mother said something to me one day that helped me immensely through rough spots. “Whenever someone gives you “tude” and acts like you’re somehow below them, think about how they’d look on a toilet with severe constipation.” LOL It works! Makes me grin every time I run into an obnoxious SOB.
Some people get off on making people in the service industry feel small. It’s their way of feeling important, so pay no mind.
I think everyone should have to work in the service industry at least once in their working lifetime. They would at least then have a knowledge of what they so freely comment and bitch about. How many of you would be able to handle having your job performance rated 100 times a day by people who seem to think that you are beneath them in social standing and therefore are to be treated with distain and ridicule. To those people who work in the service industry you have my respect and admiration.
Hi Jessi. Is Tracey still working at the Ardmore?.I haven’t seen her in ages.I feel for you girl.Keep your chin up.You’re better than them.
