While I could easily point out that “disgusting” and “old” are a personal point of view, these boards are about oppinion after all, bad for you is a much broader term. Exercise, while generally considered “good” does cause harm to the body just as something that is “bad” for you does. Worn cartiledge & joints will be as much a factor for you at the end of the line as weak lungs & immune systems will be for me and the rest of my pissant smoker bretheren.I’m a considerate driver when i’m around cyclists, even when I’m in areas that I don’t believe you belong on the road, and i’d like to consider myself a considerate smoker where in I don’t crowd doorways, don’t smoke around people that are eating & don’t even smoke in my own apt since I have a patio. However “outdoor public places” are just that. Public. I don’t think you have a members only club card that says someone can’t smoke on your little bike trail or on the sidewalk or at an outdoor concert and any other venue.I have absolutely nothing against non-smokers or the fact that everything has gone the way of “for the greater good”. That’s fine, but honestly, sidewalks, trails, anything like that. Get over yourself. You don’t see me getting offended by your bike shorts and taking up my driving lane.

What the hell was the guy smoking?? A bale of hay?? I could see if you were riding a unicycle in a HRM bar 2 years ago that you would be choking on cigarette smoke, but outside? As a smoker I do have respect for non-smokers but if I am outside and it is just me smoking, don’t give me your whiny “oh my poor lungs” attitude. I don’t see these people acting melodramatically, like some z-grade soap star when a bus spew a bunch of exhaust their way.So choking biker go choke on dick or something, whine about a worthwhile cause like having more bike lanes in the HRM or banning the use of cell phone while driving a car.
LOL well put posters and so eloquent :). I agree with all your responses to this intolerant fuckwad. I work in Bayer’s Rd. shopping center and the administration has been kind enough to supply a bench for us smoker mid way between both entrances. We often come out to find “intolerant to smokers” people sitting on our bench when they have 3 others available to them right beside the entrances. So we stand and light up (usually 4 of us). This one day one lady gave me such a “look” that it could freeze fire instantly. Wrong move lady. I smiled and said to her “oh does my cigarette smoke bother you?” She said yes. I replied: Well your ugly face bothers me too, there should be law against allowing uglies like you out on the streets before dark. She got up and vacated OUR bench :).
I know isn’t it a little hypocritical when you tell someone smoking is disgusting and then you get in your 8 cylinder SUV?
