The route 1 already runs every 10 minutes during rush hour, and then runs every 15 minutes the rest of the day on weekdays. Would you like to have it run every two minutes? Would that meet your liking? The route 1 during the university year is a nightmare due to the influx of thousands of students to Halifax…add U-Pass to that, and you will have a helluva lot more people taking the bus. I believe there is more than one option for people using the 1 to travel. Metro Transit added special bus routes this past year to try and accomodate this…the fact of the matter is, you’ll just have to suck it up and deal with the crowded bus…like everyone else.
take another bus. there are lots, EXSPECIALLY during rush hours, all the dartmouth buses start coming over and picking up passengers, then all these mystery routes come out that never come out at any other time. its no biggie, you dont need the 1 to survive 🙂
Getting in shit over putting money in a vending machine seems extreme but if you’re stealing candy from employees, that’s theft, you idiot. What gives you the right to take something from someone who, in all probability, worked fucking hard to get where they are???? Yet you think you’re fucking entitled to what they’ve earned. Is it their fault they went to school (and had to pay outrageous student loans without any help from anyone)to better their employment lot? If you had of stayed in school or had any fucking ambition, maybe you wouldn’t have to clean up other people’s shit.

mmm this is my post. Its the candy in the candy bowls like the thank you have nice day types not the ones put on someones desk! Most of these people think since they are rich now have the right to look down on people because they have no life with their pathetic office cubicle jobs. They get bored and decide to complain. Maybe angus I’m STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL YOU STUPID MORON. I will never treat people this way as I was raised to share and to be kind to others not me me me I deserve more I’m better than everybody attitude.

Ellbee, why can’t these office people be classist towards the cleaners. I have heard this type of behavior many times, how they shit on an belittle these people. Don’t you feel that if someone takes an item from a dish of gratis candy should be dismissed. Isn’t a bowl like that free for the taking. I could see a person being canned if they swiped the majority of the contents of the bowl but a few pieces of penny candy come on. That and being upset that the office pop machine is being used, isn’t that displaying class seperation??
Hey, the original post did not say anything about FREE candy. If Zac does not want to be belittled, he should find another line of work. Oh, by the way, Zac, I doubt if you’re a high school student but you certainly have the maturity of one. As far as class separation goes, it might not be right, but it’ll always be there so suck it up or rise above it.
Where’s the compassion people? It’s a bowl of candy for Christ sakes. If the office workers didn’t want to share how hard is it for someone to put the bowl of candy in their desk at the end of the day? No, they decided to set up a sting operation … WTF! Is candy really a “gateway” to steal items of greater value??? Here’s a thought; if someone is working alone after hours in an office and is looking to steal ANYTHING it is very likely a 2 cent piece of candy isn’t at the top of the list. That being said I also agree the poster is off base with some comments. Don’t hate on people because they have gone to school and trained for their field of work. Just because someone makes more money doesn’t mean they have a better life, everybody has their own shit to deal with. I agree w/ Ellbee that it sounds just a tad bitter but how can you not think the whole thing is both sad and rediculous?
Yes I suppose your right and I am in high school thank you very much doing what people use to do when they were teenagers (work) I suppose you are right about being cruel about them being spoiled brats. I would never steal anything period because its wrong. But I think the candy thing is stupid its not like the gum on there desks its like the bowls when you walk in
Ya know, Zac, I work in a large office downtown and I know that people can be petty and treat cleaning staff like shit on their shoes. I’ve befriended just about every cleaner that I’ve ever encountered. Why? Because many of them are genuinely nice people who have a lot more patience and intellegence than people give them credit for. I could never put up with the crap they do. Treating people badly is for losers who need to feel big about themselves and it does suck. But, after over five decades on this rock, I’ve also realized that these people never go away. A bowl of candy for some of them might as well be a bowl of Rolex watches. It doesn’t make sense but that’s the way some people think. I guess this job would be the perfect reason for you to stay in school. Good luck, kid.
I agree with Raoul! Just because someone isn’t a blue collar worker doesn’t mean they didn’t work hard to get where they are.Maybe, Pissed, you and your cleaner co-workers could get that chip off your shoulder. I’ve worked in an office where the cleaners had some pretty big chips on their shoulders and I ended up being the target of BLATENT lies because I asked for a second garbage can and for my office to be vaccuumed off schedule (because I had new furniture put in). I know a lot of you guys work hard, but you really have to stop taking out your anger for your occupation out on others who worked very hard for what they have. You don’t just get a white collar job handed to you these days without a lot of education, and I’m sorry to say I don’t think anyone should have to appolgize for their station in life — and that includes the people you are dumping on.And as for the candy they stole — well it wasn’t theirs to take in the first place, and office workers shouldn’t have to pack up their desks every night just for the sake of not getting someone who takes something that isn’t theirs fired. Stop hating on others and get that chip off your shoulders and maybe YOUR kharma won’t come back to bite you in the arse.
Really I think most of you all sound like a bunch of babies! it’s fuckin candy- don’t leave it out like a fuckin’ beckin for others to paw at if you are going to be a bitch about it and rag at someone taking it!And I think the majority of us can say we all work hard, whether it is a blue color or white- the point is lets try not to look down our noses at others becasue there is always someone higher than you, and if you want their respect how can you ask it if you aren’t willing to give it yourself. And chips are for Dip so brush off your sholders, grow the fuck up and try to appreciate those around you even if they can’t appreciate you!

I do not take peoples personal candy like there gum or certs or what not I’m talking about the take a candy bowls which most offices have. Some people are so greedy. The complaints people lodge are ridiculous. One office actually complain that they could not see their reflection on the kitchen floor! Its mopped everyday. Others actually find the time to complain about streaks on their not glass counter tops. We try our best to keep them from streaking. Anyways I don’t take candys from take a candy dishes anymore because I don’t deserve on for keeping their offices nice and clean. I wish my school was kept as clean as this place. The school is the dirtiest thing and they never refill anything. I don’t hate white collar people but I hate white collar people who think they are better then everyone else. and if I ever get a office job which I hope to someday soon I will put a candy bowl out for anyone who wants one. and maybe if the offices are clean I will put out a tip for the cleaners who make minimum wage I mean why not? I do enjoy my little job and its extra money for me as stated I’m only 17 but I pity the others who likely have a hard time making ends meet.
Think of it this way, Zac, if nothing else, you’ve shown that you have compassion for those who have to do ‘shit duty’ full-time. No one accomplishes anything by treating other people badly.
Hey, have any of you people ever worked as cleaners? FYI, cleaners are treated like shit by their employers, paid a shit wage, and often have to work two fucking jobs to make ends meet! Some work seven days a week! Then, come Tax Time, they are screwed over because the second job put them in a higher tax bracket! Cleaners are hard-working people, and the well-paid office assholes who complain about “dusting”, “vacuuming”, or whatever need to change roles for a week! They should try living the life of a cleaner for a change instead of bitching about trivial things. Shame on them!
