Remarks: Pothole is perhaps an inaccurate term to describe this thing. It’s more like a pot-gully. Or a pot-gulch—it’s big, is our point. The hole (caused by a broken water main, according to a rep from King’s administration) is occasionally blocked by an orange barricade, ensuring that cars and pedestrians aren’t accidentally trapped in the hole and never heard from again. Either way, college-goers are forced to weave their way onto campus when they could be making a beeline to knowledge. How sad.

I understand the inconvenience of the pothole in the King’s driveway as I am a King’s student who also works part time at the university. However, I was insulted on behalf of the maintenance supervisor, the rest of the maintenance staff and all of King’s College by the recent “on patrol” article. We truly pride ourselves on our safe and gorgeous campus and no one holds King’s to that standard more than the maintenance staff.Instead of complaining about the unpredictable water main break and driveway pothole, the author should have looked at the newly restored cupola, the brand new bookstore, the renovated serving line, or the countless other jobs that King’s maintenance performs on a daily basis. But hey, let’s overlook that.My advice for the ‘on patroler’ is to relax and hit the brake for a brief moment, but for heaven’s sake, watch out for whiplash. Oh and don’t worry so much about the “hundreds of young minds,” we can look after ourselves. Instead, take a look at why you’re whining about a dent in the road.
