  1. Good bitch. I remember driving down to the US one time back when the dollar was at 47 cents (1998). My son (then 9 yrs.old) had a nickel in his pocket and wanted to buy a candy. The store clerk told him (with a straight face) that they didn’t accept Cdn. money. We were standing behind him with an arm full of stuff. I was so incensed at this gaul that I plopped all of the stuff on the counter and told the guy that WE don’t purchase stuff from assholes like him. Americans are rude and obnoxious morons (in general) who couldn’t even find Canada on a map in a pinch. I wish they’d just stay the hell home and wallow in their ignorance.

  2. Um, simple solution: knock on their door and ask them nicely if they could put it in the right spot next time? If that doesn’t work, put your garbage in their doorway. (assuming you’re an owner and not a renter with a superintendent to address the issue for you)

  3. Instead of bitching, you should be glad they even set foot in your store. Some of them are clueless- so what? Would you rather the cruise ships stopped coming here completely? PS- at least they aren’t plotting to blow us up.

  4. i worked down at Bishop’s landing for 3 summers- imagine…they would get so annoyed when you would have to explain to them that there is not any exchange on change, they would just freak out. I’d have to go through it everytime when i would ring in the item and they’d say US$, so i hit the exchange botton and then they’d give the exact amount down to the penny. so then you have to explain that the change cannot be excepted as US$ – then the shit hits the fan…no matter how u explain that it is the bank that won’t give the US$ and the store will then lose $$. they could just never get it in their skulls. thank god i don’t do that any more.

  5. I’m a cdn living in the states now, and a lot of americans are pretty fucked. When i first got here i asked a store clerk if they took canadian, and it was as if i asked him if he had a vagina. They think canada is a joke, so when they go there they think they can do whatever they want, and expect us to naturally accept their money because they are so much better than us. pfffft….there is a reason why world dislikes americans.

  6. That is one of my pet peeves.Take this one, a few weeks ago, an American tourist was borderline angry because we charged him the 10cent deposit on his can of coke and he couldn’t return it to us to get his deposit back. After me telling him that it’s not up to the store but that’s it’s a government thing, he said that it’s NOT a government thing. He wanted to speak to my manager who told him the same thing. Cans and bottles are brought back to a depot to get the deposit money.Apparantly, some American tourist knows more about how things work here than the people that work here. And that my store is the only store in nova scotia that charges can/bottle deposits.

  7. Do y’all have electrizity up here? What y’all do int he winter, must close the schools down, poor children takes them long to get educated.I brought my skiis, I thought it snowed alot here.Where can we use one of those dog sledsDo you get Polar Bears here oftenWhat a beautiful state y’all have hereWhere is the Governor’s MansionI have a friend that lives in Vancouver maybe you know of themJust a few questions I have heard from working at various hotel.

  8. I worked down at Historic Properties all summer, and I got that all the time. The Nova Scotia Store even went so far as to put a sign outside that advertised Crocs on one side and the rules about American change on the other. In their defense, though, a lot of ports that these ships stop in do accept and give back American dollars. We don’t, and they find that hard to understand. One man asked me why, and I said “Because you’re in a different country, not in America anymore.” They just need a gentle slap in the face.

  9. Americans think they run the world. The sad thing is, a lot of Canadians (including myself, unfortunately) let them believe this. When we stop watching American TV, buying American products, and following American trends, then maybe they will stop being so arrogant. But I don’t see that happening any time soon.

  10. Ha…Canadians really are stupid! Let’s see here, hillbilly, uh, some stores actually let Americans pay in US funds, as to not lose a sale because someone didn’t get thier money changed in time.As far as Americans being rude, give me a BREAK!!! I was born here, lived there for 1/2 my life and recently came home and I was so dissapointed how downright nasty you people are. Maritime hospitality my ass! Think about that before you say Americans are jerks….maybe you’re just a self-rightous Canadian who needs a serious lesson in tolerance. If I wasn’t stuck here until the end of the semester I would be happily enjoying the hospitality of the south….never to set foot in this shithole again.

  11. obnoxious Americans suck — and when they do, they taste just like whiny Canadians.America — get over yourselves.Canada — quit wondering whether America likes/know/can find you on a map. Live your life — fuck!!!!!!

  12. Americans shouldn’t complain about issues with using their currency in foreign countries because in a nutshell, it’s not legal currency there so deal and quiet down.On the other hand, US currency is widely used across the world as unnofficial tender and is probably the most exchanged on the planet. What this means is that like it or not, the non-Americans in the world have to accept a degree of misplaced expectations from Yanks.Still though, it certainly wouldn’t hurt the Americans out there to get in the game a bit more. After all, you’re not in Kansas anymore.

  13. Here’s another good one. I work at a McDonalds, and we accept american money, but don’t offer an exchange on it right now, because they american and canadian are close…Anyway, I had some asshole come through drive thru and yell at me cause of it, and tried to insist that every mcdonalds in canada does it…Heres a fact..NO MCDONALDS in canada offers exchange on it right now, and hasnt for almost 6 months.Shut up…Lemme do my job!

  14. There are rotten tourists but there are loads of good ones too. I think they get a bad rap sometimes especially from people in the service industry.Gotta remember too that without them things could be a lot tougher.
