to the amnesty international beggar who gave me shit for being able to afford university but not their charity: go fuck yourself. if you really cared about your charity you’d be volunteering, instead of being paid almost double minimum wage to harass me

I dont think theres anything wrong with working for something you believe in, although i am suprised that anyone can afford University.
I agree. Fuck you. Your causes and your beliefs are just that, yours. Others don’t owe you anything. If you want to change minds try not being such a fucking asshole and get off that o so high horse.
I was pissed at the girl that would not take “No!” for an answer. I was on my way to work, she stopped me and asked if we could talk about it, I said “I’m on my way to work!” and she said it would only take a minute.So she does her thing, I agree with her but say I can’t really afford it being a student. She says that many students give, I say that’s nice but with my loans and stuff, I really can’t. She gives an example about how easy it is to go downtown with $10 and come home with nothing and that $10 could be spent on Amnesty. I rarely go downtown to the bars or drink.Basically, I was made to feel guilty because I live in Canada and don’t give every cent that I make and don’t use for bare necessities to Amnesty.I even offered to pay a one-time payment of $25 to show that I believed in what they do but don’t want to commit to a monthly payment. She wouldn’t accept that, either.I don’t know what annoyed me more. The fact that she would NOT accept no for an answer or the fact that I even stopped and talked to her and was late for work.
Like we don’t have enough beggars in Halifax. Now we need the charities to jump on the bandwaggon. Lets play a game. It’s called, “Count how many feet you can walk in Halifax before you get asked for change from someone!” If you get past five feet you beat me.
Do what I do, put headphones in your ears and walk with a cold gaze on your walk to work in the morning.
The large charity organizations rip off people in the end. Most of their caring people in the third world, are housed in places far over priced and disconnected from the really people who need the help
If someone approaches you, do like you would in a foreign country where you don’t speak the language. Don’t say a word. Just put your palm out like you’re signalling “back off” and then just keep walking. If they’re persistant, just keep walking. Don’t acknowledge them. You know who they are. They’re either those damn street punk bums that are too lazy to work or they’re the ones downtown with your unicef/amnesty international vests on. They can’t give you shit if you don’t talk to them. Just keep walking.
Ok, i understand that if some amnesty person is being pushy, then they should fuck right off. but dont give them shit for asking if you could help a poor soul in an under priviliged country. I admit, when at SMU I ignore the Greenpeace people cause most of the time im in a rush to get to class. BUT, i dont feel bad cause I contribute regulary to charites and Organizations such as greenpeace and Medcins Sans Frontiers. I do it on my own time though, and im not hassled, which is nice. So my point is, if you have time, do some research and donate. There are many good causes. And by the way, I am a student with huge debt, but i fucking work AND go to school full time. So if you complain about being a poor student and you dont work, well, fuck you. its your own fault, get a fuckin job.
