Fat Halagonians
I’m a public health nurse who must drive her car to work to take care of the ill. My problem lies with the number of bus stops per block!! Two, three, four per block. We wonder why we’re soo fat? Try walking a block and see how good it feels!! Also think

It must be nice to be in a position where you can tell people what to do from a professional standpoint. Must be great to make sweeping generalizations about people. Good on you! I agree physical activity is beneficial and that we need to make part of every day life, but there are whole host of reasons why people do the things they do. I would expect a public health nurse to understand that.
Right On Sister!
Lucky you, you own a car, take the bus for a month. I hear you on the lazy part, but ever run for a bus…it’s great when a bus stop is close.
Why don’t you take the bus to work instead of your car? Or is it easier for you to walk to the car in your garage rather than that block to the bus stop!
I give credit to the people who take the bus. To convince people to use public transportation it has to be conveniant. If they have to walk for 3-4 blocks in the pissing rain they’ll eventually break down and say “fuck it, I’m buying a car!” Maybe the number stops around your block are excessive but complaining about it while driving your car seems a little selfish.
I think you are all missing the point here. It’s not about her car, it’s not about the bus, it’s not about the people running in or from the rain. It’s about all you FAT FUCKS out there! It amazes me, I’m sure the prerequisite to work in a McD’s or Tim Ho’s is you gotta be fat, sort of like suggestive selling. Let’s face it when was the last time you saw someone in a McD’s skinny and that goes for the patrons as well. I think they should install a scale at the entrance. If you fail a certain stipulated weight category you don’t eat there. Yeah that’s it, keep your extra crispy chicken eatin’ two liter pepsi drinkin’ fat ass out of the fast food restaurants. Lets face it people when was the last time you saw anyone run to or from a McD’s? I don’t have any problem expressing this because you fat fucks are taking up my space and breathing my air. And yes sooner or later will cost me money in medical bills. I’ll bet there would me a lot more people taking, might even be running for the bus if they sold burgers or donuts on board. From what I understand it wouldn’t be that far of a jaunt between the amount of stops.
SONEONE SHOULD KCICK MICHEALS ASS!
Michael, has it ever occured to you and our dear public health nurse that people are overweight for a variety of reasons and McD’s, Tim’s Ho and public transportation are not to blame. Because I am over my “ideal weight” more than 50 pounds, I am considerd obese. However I am healthy, active, beautiful and strong. I work out, eat healthful foods and could probably kick your ass from here to next week as I was an avid boxer. My issue? I have a very slow metabolism, Hypothyroidism and the genetic misfortune to carry my weight in the danger zone (under the chin and above the groin). Rest asured, I am not a burden on our society, nor do I plan to become one. When I do eat from a fast food joint and am served by a very skinny 16 year old, I tend to choose from the healthy choice menus. I stick to black coffee, no sugar and no donut when I get my fix from Timmy’s. I do not medicate myself for my “health issues” as I believe I can regulate with an active healthy lifestyle. I will never be a super model, I will never be a size 7, but I do have the ability to take off some of the weight if I try really hard. But you my friend, will never change and are destined to always be an ass hole. It is Negative fucks like you two who are the true burden on this world.
What about the old or handicapped people who take the bus, I’m sure they would love hobbling that block because they are ‘too fat’ to handle only one bus stop. What about the person who missed their stop because the bus door jammed… again, I’m sure they would LOVE walking that extra block or two because you think they are fat.Walk to work and lead by example.
Did you ever consider the people who are handicapped who can’t walk the three to four blocks to catch the bus? What about the elderly and mothers with strollers (like me)? Yes, people are walking less, and yes I am a fat (and very pregnant) lady, but that doesn’t give you or anyone else the right to criticize our public transit system. As a PUBLIC HEATLH NURSE, you should be understanding as you work with all types of people. I say park your car (and your big fat attitude) in the garage and try taking the bus every now and then. Set an example and walk three-four blocks. Do it without consulting a bus schedule and do it when you have a major appointment. Let’s see how much you care about getting fat then.
how about walking or riding a bike?
how about walking or riding a bike?
‘Tired of ignorance’, if you expect a pubic health nurse to know better you expect too much, i’ve worked in hospitals and many of them are fatby the way just because canadian health care is free doesn’t mean it’s ‘the best in the world’, it’s amazing how people will blindly believe whatever is repeated to them enoughthink outside the borders
To Skinny man who takes the bus and eats at McD’s. Someone should kick your ass for being an illiterate fuck who can’t spell. You must work at McD’s do you?
It’s ridiculous to suggest that buses are responsible for the traffic congestion. Obviously you have never relied on the bus and have a lot of nerve placing blame on public transportation. How do you know how many blocks people walk to catch the bus? Sure there are lots of bus stops on Oxford Street but there are very few on the streets that run parallel to Oxford. Check your facts lady!
Outside of the downtown core, the bus routes are on MAJOR streets. What about the people who walk 8 or 9 blocks to get to one of those stops? I have a brisk 15 minute walk (4.0 mph or faster) to get to my bus stop. I don’t live on a bus route. Now that we’re pointing fingers, I don’t complain about the overweight nurses in the ER. Shouldn’t we ALL know better?
WHAT A JUDGEMENTAL BITCH YOU TRULY ARE TO EXPRESS SUCH DEGRADING COMMENTS ABOUT PEOPLE WHO TAKE THE BUS AND OR ARE OVERWEIGHT.WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK THAT YOU ARE ANYHOW TO INSULT OTHERS.POSSIBLY YOU GAVE YOURSELF ‘PEDASTAL STATUS’ BECAUSE YOU WORK IN THE HEALTH CARE PROFESSION, WELL LISTEN UP BIATCH, I DO TOO AND I DRIVE A CAR BUT WOULD NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT CALLING PEOPLE FAT.YOU MAY NOT BE FAT BUT YOUR DISCUISTING MOUTH IS AND YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF, WHAT A DISGRACE, WHY DON’T YOU PRINT YOUR NAME SO THAT WE ALL KNOW WHO YOU ARE YOU WASTE OF SPACE ON THIS PLANET!
Re fat Haligonians. With the exception of a few who wrote a feedback, you ALL missed the point. If all I needed to go to work was a thermometer, I would take the bus. I would certainly save myself a huge chunk of change in gas money. Don’t talk about the elderly as they are the majority that you see walking, working in their yards, etc. The POINT is the NUMBER of stops per block. The traffic DOES NOT flow for the most part because of it!!!! As for Health care professional who drives, read my submission and yours and tell me who has the DISGUSTING mouth. (You may want to learn to spell before you capitalize a spelling error). This was fun! Who would have thought one opinion would spark this kind of debate!!!
It’s not a matter of debate. This is a person blaming the number of bus stops on every block for the traffic congestion. That has got to be the most irrelevant and baseless argument for the cause of city traffic I have ever heard. A bus stop is a sign on the side of the road. People wait for the bus because they either can’t afford the luxury of a car, or they have the common sense to not own a car in the city as it’s not necessary for everyone. Perhaps they choose to take the bus for environmental reasons. Whatever the choice, at the very least they are taking the bus and not congesting the roads with yet another car, not congesting the air we breathe with even more carbon monoxide. In other words, it is not the frequency of the bus stops that congests traffic…it would be THE NUMBER OF CARS ON THE ROAD.How many mornings have I stood at my bus stop (which, by the way, is about 2 blocks from my apartment), and witnessed cars going by with only one person in them…driving themselves to work…perchance not even thinking of car pooling with others or picking up others on the way to work, etc. There is an awful lot of wasted space inside of those cars…space that could be filled up with other people driving only themselves to and from work, or wherever.I would casually suggest that, before pointing the finger at the meek little bus stop…turn the finger on yourself. You’re a public nurse who takes care of sick people? Sorry. Does not exclude you from being a major contributor to the traffic problem.

HAHAHHA! Your “Bitch” has to be the most ridiculous one I have ever read. To blame buses for all of the traffic conjestion! The last time I checked (as I am at my stop 3 blocks from my house waiting for my bus) there were a lot more cars and HUGE SUV’s filling up the roads at traffic hour. Why don’t you “try walking a block and see how good it feels” and you can start decreasing the amount of vehicles on the road. C’mon! Do your part! Since, you are so adamant about it.So, which street is this anyways? I have NEVER been on a block with that many stops! It must be in a magical land that you can only see from your car window.Give your head a shake lady! If you had to take the bus you would be bitching that there weren’t enough stops on your street, especially on rainy/snowy/windy days.

PS…How about the cars that park at the bus stop, preventing the bus from being able to pull off to the side of the road. The bus then must stop in the middle of the road, thanks to said “parked” car, and this blocks traffic until 1.) the retard who parked at the bus stop finally moves; or 2.) all of the bus patrons are safely on/off the bus.I waited at my bus stop today to come home from work, and watched as FOUR DIFFERENT CARS parked at the bus stop. Lo and behold, the fourth illiterate dork parked, put on his 4-ways, and ran into Scotia Square. Bus comes up Duke St, and whaddya know…has to stop in the middle of the street to let about 10-12 people on the bus! You want something/someone to blame? Leave the frequency of bus stops out of it. It’s assholes armed with a driver’s license, a car, and NO IDEA HOW TO DRIVE that are the problem. If you don’t like the fact that there are not enough parking spots in the downtown area…well jiminy, here’s an idea! TAKE THE BUS!

I was woundering have you ever noticed that the bus pulls over so that you can pass it? I was also woundering were you park your car. I bet you park it as close to the door as you can get,not the parking spot farthest away from the door so your lazy ass can also get some exersize. Also do you car pool because I do not apreate the toxens you and your car are putting in my lungs and therefore will cost many heath care dollars.
‘bus-o-holic’ raised the best point of all; “THE NUMBER OF CARS ON THE ROAD”, the majority of them having 3 empty seats’Tired of laziness’ nurse if you want to solve the congestion problem you are in a wonderful position to do so having so many coworkers at the hospital, perhaps you could start a car-pooling program, or if one exists promote it, talk to your coworkers because you and they are a major part of the problem, not the number of bustops per block to suggest that the # of bustops per block is the reason for the growing fatness of the citizenry is ridiculous, as a nurse you should know better, too bad you don’t, the abundance and availability of high fat foods, the invention of time and energy saving devices, growing depression, the invention of television and it’s sedentary lifestyle and brainwashing effects, simply, people are fatter per capita in north america because they eat more than they need to because they can
This comment goes to Michael, i dont think that you understand how big of an asshole you are. The fact that you stereotype people that work at a fastfood joint because they need to pay for school of they need extra money on the side. Do you have a little fat secret that you need tro confess? Not everyone that works there is fat. Or even close to being over weight. stereotyping asshole! GOD people like you make me sick the fact was about a bus and how many stops there was. Not that employees at MCD are Fat. Go to the one on Kempt Rd and see how many fat people there are not too many and if there if there not huge or how was it said a FAT FUCK like God There was no need!!!!!
