Remarks: When we called the HRM info line, we were told that the businesses and the community in the Hydrostone area are responsible for erecting the tree. But while on a reconnaissance mission, we talked to a friendly business owner who told us that the city was in charge. No matter whose fault it is, the problem is simple: the lights on the tree — they just aren’t working. And as anyone who has ever strung mini-lights anywhere can attest, if there is one faulty bulb, the whole string is shot. Now that’s a pain in the ass, but it’s always been a part of the holidays. If Joanna Q. Public can put up with that crap, so can the village it takes to raise the Hydrostone Christmas tree.
Who’s Responsible?: HRM Building Management Services Department, the community and the businesses in the area. It’s a shared responsibility, apparently.
