To the editor,
I think that the fuss made about Celine Dion performing on the Common is proof to the exact opposite of what Lezlie Lowe is suggesting in her column last week (“Anger Management,” Nov. 29), which is that Halifax is “growing up…stumbling to find our stride as a big city….” To me, the outcry over Celine’s show is a prime example of exactly how far Halifax is from becoming a “big” city; it exudes insecurity, self-consciousness and boredom! Why haven’t we heard such outcry about which artist performs from the people of Vancouver or New York? It’s because they, as big city dwellers, already have enough going on; they don’t care!
